Eddie George. OSU finiswhed #7 in the polls and did not win the national championship, but he was a GREAT runningback and would have been on ANY team. Went on to further prove it in the NFL.

Anyone who has watched Suh throughout the season knows he is the best defender in the nation. Look up all his stats and then take in account he is a DT getting double teams.

Suh is the best DL in the nation, hands down. He is not the best player in the nation, though. That distinction goes to C.J. Spiller. Whatever team he gets on will suddenly have a real game changer. With just 1 step, he is gone, and no defense can do a thing about it without leaving themselves vulnerable somewhere else. Suh will be an all pro DL, he will make some sacks, but he won't dominate like he did at Neb. Pretty easy to scheme around a DL, but Spiller can kill you from anywhere. We never even used him up to his potential. Think of how good his stats would be had he been the featured back all 4 years, instead of just 1. As a former lineman, I like to see Suh get recognition, but he's no C.J.

about as much as a $3 dallor bill. and with this outcome only proves what most of us alreadt knew. The whole heisman thing is owned and opperated by a bunch of low bread classless QUEERS and voted by want a be a queers
Hold your HEAD VERY HIGH CJ. The entire college world knows that you are by far the best college player. And pencil marks by a bunch ####, can't and want ever change that. Your number will never be worn at Clemson ever again. For you are the CHAIRMAN of the RING OF HONOR at CLEMSON UNIVERSITY !!!

Adams was a DE, not a DT.
For Suh to have the production he had from that position is nothing short of amazing.

go look at deandre mcdaniels stats. more tackles and more interceptions by far than suh from nebraska so why isnt deandre invited to new york if you are going on stats alone. cj should be there and should be close to winning. he is the best player hands down in the country. the heisman is way too political now.

impressive. I'd much rather Spiller have gone obviously, but the fact of the matter is Suh is deserving because for a DT who's usually double-teamed he has ridiculous stats.

I'm sick of seeing it given to the QB or RB of the chronically successful (or historical) teams. The sports writers that called McCoy at the beginning of the season will keep on voting for him to validate themselves. The same with TeBoo-hoo.
At least a win for Suh would be a move in the right direction.

The Heisman jumped the shark when Woodson won...
Dec 7, 2009, 6:42 PM
|
|
...it's never been the same since. It was always, for the most part, a popularity contest going to a player from a big name university (deserving or not); but when Woodson won it completely jumped the shark and became nothing more than an American Idol vote than an actual vote for who's the best player in the country.
{With Woodson, he had a nice career, but if it had been at any other school than one of the 'big names' it would've been an average career - the fact that he won and Deion Sanders didn't even get mentioned, tells you all you need to know about the award.
Can't say I've watched or even cared who's won that award ever since...The Heisman jumped the shark.

is becoming politicized. What a joke. Conferences have their own networks (that's objective), Bowls are given out not by record, but by whatever they feel like doing. Way to earn it boys but we are going to BFE for our bowl because someone who only won 6 games wants to go out with a loss in front of his home crowd. Now this heisman invite is ridiculous. I don't expect CJ would have won it, but he is the EPITOME of a Heisman candidate! What a shame.

College football is a spin doctored, opinion ruled, heap -o- crap. It will remain so until there is a playoff system. Until then the cute little guys and girls and the pundits like Granny Holtz and that Herbstreit boy at ESPN will tell the country pretty much what to think, who should play in the NC, and who should win the Miss Heisman Beauty Contest each year. The action on the field should determine who wins what. Everything else is posing for the cameras.

Doggone shame! No way that Suh, Gerhardt or Tebow deserve to be there more than CJ. He is also the epitome of what a college football player should be in addition to all the gaudy #'s and his impact on his team.
I think it referendum on the ACC but it should be viewed as a referendum of the boneheads in the media with the voting forms.

that aside. i hope he has an amazing last game in nashvegas...i take that back: i KNOW he will have an amzing game against ky.

I hope the Heisman voters can sleep well at night knowing they ignored the most outstanding player of 2009, as that is supposed to be what this award is...oh I know, it was the same voters that sent FSU to the Gator Bowl as a lifetime achievement award for Bobby...I hope WVU drills the Seminoles to show this was indeed a backhanded/back door-ed sham!

Needed more wins. Va and SC games did not help him. I hope he gets a high draft pick and huge signing bonus and can look back and say that was far better CJ is a quality individual. One deserving of better. He got into SC endzone something geoprge Rogers never acheived.

Team Losses ?
Dec 8, 2009, 2:57 AM

The Heisman Trophy is an individual award, not a team award so I don't understand how team losses come into play.CJ deserves the award period. This award always seem to go to the Notre Dames,Southern Cals,Nebraskas, etc.How did George Rogers get the trophy if team wins are tallied in? This is total Bullsheeiitt. Spiller is the man!!!!

In those days, it was more about individual accomplishment, as it was meant to be. Now, it's best player on the best team. Sad thing is we should have done better. But for a few bad calls, and an unlucky bounce or 2 we easily could have won the TCU, GT both times and MD. If that had happened, the chicks wouldn't have beaten us, either. Then C.J. gets consideration. It is so sad to see C.J. get over looked here. It's worse than sad. It's BS. But it is the Heisman's loss, and it's The Heisman's travesty. Soon, it will be as meaingless as The Nobel Prize has become.

Screw the people who snubbed CJ, he is the best all around player in country. The whole system is a joke. As unjust as this is for CJ, I feel just as bad for TCU, Cincinnati and Bosie State.....undefeated and not even a shot for the National Title. This league is a joke, and until a playoff is created the only winners are the bowl sponsors....and of course ESPN. So since this award is a joke, I am not going to sweat it anymore and just enjoy the fact that I got to see an amazing college player AND will have many more years to watch him as he makes his mark the pros. Glad I drive a Honda and not a Nissan!

Practically all qb's chosen in the past decade. And most of them on national championship teams. Why not call it the "national championship qb award". Case and point --- Weike, Crouch, Smith , Leinart, Tebow. Just give the D%^& thing to McCoy and STOP WASTING MY TIME!!!

as a friend and former teammate of spiller i cant believe it

I am a year older than cj and was blessed to be his quarterback for the 10 yrs i played football until i graduated a yr before he did. he has always been an unbelievable player and the NFL will show more consideration then the idiots that left him off the new york list. My opinion is probably bias because i was a teammate but i understand the game of football better than most and i have no doubt that he is "the most outsdanding college athlete." not that it really matters when in comes to heisman voting, but he truly is a great guy and very respectful to everyone, always has been. there is only one role model in college football that compares to him and that would be tebow. tebow and spiller are friends and have been every since we played against him in HS. tebow is a great guy but is not deserving of the heisman trophy at all. I am a huge gator fan and have been my whole life, and no disrespect to tebow bc he is not the one chosing himself, but I have always thought he was very overrated. he is a great athlete and a competitor playing quarterback. he is not what everyone talks him up to be and will never be a successful NFL quarterback. inghram is a BEAST on the football field and is deserving of the trip to new york. not real sure about the guy from Nebraska, but other than that cj should be way above the other guys. most people are not fans of colt because he plays an easy schedule, but i will almost guarantee u that he will be a very successful quarterback at the next level, the kid has all the tools and will only get better. I do not believe that he is deserving of the heisman trophy either though. even though he is pretty consistent he has NOT nor anyone else gave me the WOW effect like cj has time and time again. it says a lot for someone who has handed the ball off to him more than probably anyone EVER will and has watched him do amazing things every yr since we were 7 and 8 yrs old and i can still say "WOW" he makes big time D1 football players look like high schoolers still. by the way, when he sais, "nobody has ever ran me down on the field," he is not lying. I have never seen it happen. maybe somebody will have his number on that in the NFL so i can pick on him when i see him in town. He is a great guy and a great ball player. very unfortunate that he wasnt chosen for heisman. shout out to alexander and nobles.... they are also great guys and very hard working players.
