convention. I think I went three times between 1975 and 1979. It was kind of like a spread out woodstock, and you could buy anything, and I mean anything:

I have been twice to the Fidler's Convention.

Also there was the Brushy Mountain Marathon starting in Wilkesboro that ended up there 26 miles later going past Jr Johnson's chicken farm. I ran that a few times. Lots of local talent would be on hand for that.

That brought back some memories.

Found an old photo at the marathon finish one year at the music ground (Van Hoy Farm). I ran that day with a Secret Service Agent.
In the dark before the race we had hidden a beer stash off the road at 15 miles to help get us in. In the day light had a hard time finding it, but we persevered as wasting beer is very bad.
