For a reef Donkey?? I rather catch a smallmouth bass! Reef donkeys are only fun for first 3 minutes, then they are too much work with no return.

No return? Obviously you have never had any. Yes larger ones tend to have tape worms but they are usually limited to the tail and or head. They can easily be cut out. Marinate and throw them on the grill. And they are definitely fun to fight.

So, WHAT HAPPENED WAS.....

We put our kayaks in on a very steep bank that is 35 to 40 feet above the river. Now, our kayaks have batteries, trolling motors,paddle, tackle,etc. Probably a couple hundred pounds. So, when we come out we tie a heavy rope to the bow and wrap the other end around the extension hitch that I am standing with in the second pic. We just loosely wrap it and I hold it tight and walk bedind the truck as Tater Tater pulls the kayak up the hill. We have done this MANY times. I walk about 6 to 8 feet behind the truck and when the kayak is about halfway up the slope, we have to stop, back the truck up (We don't have enough room to just keep going until the kayak is over the top of the hill) and I keep the rope snug while Tater Tater does this. The rope gets VERY VERY tight and STRETCHED!!!!! Well,sir, Ole Spud never gave it any thought until RIGHT BEFORE THAT SUCKER BROKE OFF yesterday. It came flying straight back at me and the bar slammed into both of my shins. I am surprised none of you heard me yelling Hallelujah!!!!LOL! Luckily, the square bar hit my shins and not the part that broke off. I would say it was comparable to letting one of you take a whack a my leg with a 4 foot 2 by 4......We wont be tying it to that anymore...

I surely do.
A neighbor older than us up the road might be the best Striper fisherman on Hartwell.
Once I wore shoes that marked his fancy boat.
Best for me is to fish alone.

I will take you into Black River one day if you wish. The only thing I can guarantee you is you will catch a mud fish (bowfin).

My dad caught the state record redbreast out of the Black river 35yrs ago, it's been broken since then.
I was fishing a big B.A.S.S tournament 12yrs ago on Santee, and I needed 1 big bite to put me in final day. I pulled up on spot, threw my jerkbait across a flat and bam, hooked a giant. I was seeing $$$ signs, then it jumped. I was like, dang that looked a little too brown. Then it started rolling and I started cussing. It was the biggest mudfish of my life and I have caught hundreds. Then to top it of, I got it to the boat, had my jerkbait sideways in it's mouth, as I tried to salvage a favorite bait, stupid fish broke my bait. It was the biggest swing of emotions ever! I hate mudfish!

Spud,
I'm in Central Florida. If you set up a fishing trip for all the anglers on Tnet, I would do everything possible to make the trip up. Heck, I'm just a recreational fisherman. I'd come just to ride around in the boat with you and watch you swing them over the gunnel and listen to your great fishing stories. Give me a couple of weeks notice and I can probably make it.
