B I K E R S

Jul 30, 2022, 8:44 PM

I have known many bikers and been many "types" over the years.
Often a bike was my only transportation as I could not afford a bike and a car.

After Army a Green Beret followed Ted to our home. He bought a Triumph Bonneville and used his GI benefits to attend CPCC. Things like snow and wt f were not seen by him. My buddy Ted had "survived" VN and returned to me (just with more experience). This guy had been shaken. When we put on parties to meet girls, he would sit alone in the corner. Our hope was he would not begin killing folks. He seldom talked.
He taught me to ride his bike, and that changed my life. One day he just moved on.

TV is a deal - too bad.
'Then Came Bronson' became a fantasy dream as my life at the time was not happy.

I needed a Sporster "really bad" as I was dying. The bank would not give me a loan. I took on additional jobs and ?

I painted "Freedom Is Just Another Word" on it.

As a person that has owned over 20 motorcycles. . . and who has a few Harleys today . . . huh???????

owned over 20

I understand, it ain't about $$ and bikes but other things.
Buying more bikes might not get you there.
Many who have never been on a bike will be as solid as to it as me.

Who said anything about money? Most of my bikes I built. I've been up and down teh East coast of a bike, never west. I've logged quite a few miles. In groups, sometimes as large as 100. But I do not know what you are saying Brother.

I had a V65 back in '87-'88.

Those things are dangerous. Too hard to keep the front wheel on the ground. Very fast.

do you smoke

Jul 30, 2022, 9:39 PM

No, it is like fingernails on a chalk board to me.
I have never smoked even one, but many friends I admire have.

Some mistakenly g see this as a thread about bikes.
It is about "Bikers".

Bear

I ran a hippie club at one time. My door man "BEAR" was a "biker". He got flack from the clubs so sometimes rode with a short shot gun. That was silly as he was teddy bear.
I did not allow "colors" in Muthers.

None of this makes sense to me. A word salad with all the toppings.

Here is a 'biker tale".

I always volunteered to work holidays. That was because nothing happens in the morning. Nothing to do and you get paid.
One July 4th, my pardner and I went to Shoney's for breakfast then intended to head for home as it was unlikely I would be called on - so a free day. Things would pick up later as folks drink, but on 1st shift nothing.
While eating got word to head to Derita.

5 members of the 'Outlaws' had been found shot dead at their club house. I knew it well, had been there many times. I had to work double, double overtime that day.

I wanna share my Bonneville,
Maybe it’s how the weight is carried but moving my ‘67 Trophy around doesn’t feel any different from my 2017 Street Twin.
But, agreed, bikes are way too lardy nowadays. The trouble is, anything at around 175kg isn’t a ‘proper’ old-school this road bike.
My Street Twin could have a tad more oomph but, for the riding I now do, it’s good fun without being overpowering. I had a quick ride last week and there was so much slow traffic I rarely got above 50 anyway.
I prefer gloss black I’m afraid.

slider that's unlocked... Jumps up and swings on the handle enough to get a crack between the doors and then gets down and pushes it open with a paw. Have to lock it in the summer or we'll be air conditioning the neighborhood...

Welcome Back!
