Charlie Daniels in "The Devil Went Down to Georgia"

Ray Charles in Georgia

Gladys Knight in Midnight Train to Georgia

"Reba" in The Night the Lights Went out in Georgia


What is it that Georgia is featured in so many classic songs - the sweet-rolling-off-the-tongue name "Georgia", or is it something in the old South. I don't think any other state compares except New York, but that would be the city.

Most likely the "Night the Lights went out" will be the verses pounding a headache into the canine skulls tonight

Maybe you ought to rethink that. Sure they got songs about Ga. but they don't have songs about Tigers;
"Roar" by Katy Perry.
"I got a tiger by the tail" by Buck Owens.
"Eye of the Tiger" by Survivor!
And if that is not enough,
there is the best dang fight song in the country !
"TIGER RAG".

P.S. If these aren't classic songs I don't know what is.
