Bama - Most of the media and people in general

Jan 8, 2017, 1:08 PM

don't realize just how bad the SEC was this year. It is normally the best overall conference, but it was terrible outside of Bama this year. The SEC as a whole is severely lacking in quality coaches and QB's. Their "greatest defense of all time" is built on the putrid offenses in the SEC this year.

The way I see it, all this just makes us look that much better when we beat them tomorrow night!

GO TIGERS!!! ??

ESPiN sells advertising by selling games and BS to viewers.

If you have trouble trusting salesmen you've probably figured how to handle ESPiN's hype.

But when Bama beats Clemson tomorrow night it actually verifies how good Bama's defense really is... ;)

Sure thing NAT... You really think your D can contain Watson & Company? A 4-8 Ole Miss squad dropped 40 plus points on you guys this year. That was the only offense you played with a pulse. Who was the 2nd best offense you faced? Arkansas? Lol...

Outside of Auburn, and possibly LSU, no one you faced had a much of a pulse front four wise defensively. That will not compare to what Venables & Wilkins/Lawrence/Ferrell/Watkins will bring your way tomorrow night.

When we contain your running game, do you really think your 18 yo QB can win the game with his arm? He is a heck of an athelete, but he is not a great passer. Washington, I repeat, WASHINGTON's defense held him to 57 yards passing.

And Troy dropped how many on Clemson? VT is horrible and they dropped how many on you? Lets not forget Pitt!

VT is certainly not horrible....they rank higher in total offense than anybody you played up until Washington.

Western Kentucky, USC, Texas A&M, and Ole Miss are all above Virginia Tech along with Washington. Clemson has played Louisville, Florida State, and Pitt who are above VT.

Sorry - Not true

The scoring offenses Bama faced this year were better than the scoring offenses Clemson faced.

(That's not an opinion, that's the statistical fact.)

That's because there is some pitiful defenses in the SEC this year

Bama has played the following defenses :

#111, #110, #95, #90, #85, #76

Not sure where you got your data from but actually the lowest ranked scoring defense they played was Ole Miss (100). They have also played # 5,6,7 and 9 scoring defenses. The average scoring defense they have played ranked 50. The average scoring defense Clemson played ranked 42. Not a huge defense. Clemson only played two top 10 defenses: Auburn (7) and OSU (3). We played two really bad defenses: Syracuse (120) and Pitt (106).

Wrong. Ole Miss and Miss St are 110, and 111. Bama hasn't played anyone outside of LSU and Auburn with a pulse on defense.

Wrong

That's total defense. The goal of the defense is to prevent points...not yards. Check again.

Total defense = yards.

Jan 9, 2017, 10:35 AM

Points is scoring defense.

Exactly. Look at the record of ACC vs SEC this year and the scores. FSU beat the SEC East "champs" by 18

I know you said scoring offense but going by total yards Clemson and Alabama both played six in the top 50....

Clemson- Louisville (5th), Virginia Tech (18th), FSU (27th), Ohio St. (33rd), Pitt (39th), Auburn (43rd)

Alabama- Washington (15th), USC (19th), Texas A&M (26th), Tennessee (41st), Auburn (43rd), Miss. St. (44th)

Re: Sorry - Not true

Jan 8, 2017, 3:21 PM

True. But the ability to score and prevent the scoring of point is how you measure a offense and defense. Yards don't win games, points do.

The USC team Bama played the first game of the season was not the team USC was at the end of the season. USCeast held both aTm & UT to 24 points.

Carolina went 6-7. They are god awful and won 6 games. All SEC credibility was lost when that happened
