Something very interesting about A&M

Nov 12, 2012, 4:30 PM

they're defensive stats are way up from last year. Why? Cause they have played against SEC offenses. The one game they got lit up was out of conference vs La tech. Their defense was awful in the big 12, but once they came to the SEC, all of a sudden they're pretty good. Bama and LSU have great defenses cause they play no offense with a pulse. Bama has given up 900 total yards the last 2 weeks. Anyone who thinks Clemson can't beat Bama is just buying into the hype and not looking at them when they play and making your own minds up. They're no a fast defense and would have a lot of trouble vs Clemson's speed. LSU has #1 defense last year in the country and their only 2 games outside the SEC, they gave up a total of over a 1000 yards to WV and Oregon. Makes you wonder if any of these SEC homers actually watch teams outside of the conference.

very nice...POINT!***

Why is it do you really think Saban hates Clemson's offense

Nov 12, 2012, 4:34 PM

Cause of injury concerns? lol, yeah ok, we just saw why he hates this offense. I guarantee he wants no part of playing Clemson with the speed we have

It's that ACC speed baby!!***

And for the Coots that will say "Well what about Michigan?"

Nov 12, 2012, 4:48 PM

Michigan functions around Denard Robinson, and does not have the playmakers that Clemson has, nor the hurry up tempo.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Michigan deserved the #8 ranking as much as Voorhees

Nov 12, 2012, 4:50 PM

when the season started.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Point for Voorhees reference, LOL!***

If you watched that game, it was very clear that Michigan

Nov 12, 2012, 5:02 PM [ in reply to And for the Coots that will say "Well what about Michigan?" ]

did not intend to win that game. Robinson rushed only ten times against Bama, fewest this year (along with UMass, when he came out early due to blow out, and Nebraska, when he came out early due to injury). They played it safe, preferring to save their best weapon for the conference season.

I did watch it and remember clearly thinking

Nov 12, 2012, 5:07 PM

Mich is getting ready to get the hell kicked out of them. I said before the season even got here that the oddsmakers were nuts. Bama would win by 3 tds.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We have great speed but don't have more than UF, LSU, Bama,

or UGA.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I have been saying SEC defenses are overrated for 2 yrs

Nov 12, 2012, 8:52 PM

Have brought up that the 2 teams that ran and passed all over LSU was WV and Oregon last year. I don't agree with Walt much but this is obvious

Re: Something very interesting about A&M

Nov 12, 2012, 5:13 PM

As long as our defense stop's their running game, they won't get very far.

Saban has some big boys on his team, but the fact he recruits huma elephants (and they probably have the intelligence of them too...) will be what stops them. Their defense isn't fast enough or smart enough to think around our offense and stop us, provided we stop this "RUN EM UP THE MIDDLE!" BS.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think you're kind of nutty. We could beat Bama at home

Nov 12, 2012, 5:15 PM

but on a neutral field or away, I'd bet against it.

LSU killed Oregon and WVU last year. Who cares how many yards they gave up?

Are you really saying La. Tech is beter on offense than UGA, USC, Bama, LSU, UF just because these teams are in the SEC. Come on. Get real.

I think anyone who sez defenses are great because they play in the SEC is nutty. On the flip side, I think somone who sez offenses are bad beccause they are in the SEC is nutty also.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpgringofhonor-jospehg.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think he is saying LaTech hung almost 60 on them

Nov 12, 2012, 5:20 PM

and none of the aforementioned did. I for one think that THIS YEAR the Sec has been given faaaarrrrr too much credit for wins against each other. If you are told something is great enough you will tend to believe it...just my take.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

For sure but you don't flip the coin and do the exact same

Nov 12, 2012, 5:25 PM

thing from the other side.

I never thought Bama had the best team in the country this year. Heck, they lost four players to the NFL in the first round. They had the best team by far last year.

I think the SEC lovefest is way overblown but when you are voting in polls, especially in preseason, you can only go by what happened in the past.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpgringofhonor-jospehg.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

you can and to an extent should but...

Nov 12, 2012, 5:33 PM

it has to be done with a grain of salt. Take our Tigers. This year was largely tinged with the Orange Bowl memories. Now I (and I only speak for myself)have always taken the approach that you are not as bad as your worst game and not as good as your best. I don't think that is the view the media took. I feel they fully expected us to be the same team this year as last.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

The problem is that they are not penalized for their losses

Nov 12, 2012, 5:41 PM [ in reply to For sure but you don't flip the coin and do the exact same ]

espn's defense when giving the sec all the praise has been that those teams pass the eye test. well, those offenses just don't cut it this year. sometimes those defenses don't either. uga almost lost to Kentucky. UF almost lost twice to very weak opponents. LSU almost lost to Towsen. who the #### is that?

the fact is that the big 12 is passing the eye test better than the sec and this year (just like last year) they are the better conference. you'll never hear that on espn though because they have to protect their cash cow. I'm sure we'll hear all about the sec during the mnc if one of them doesn't make it. they have to keep the sec in the minds of the viewers.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I said it this way today...

Nov 12, 2012, 5:44 PM

A&M beats Bama at Bama. You want to bump A&M 6 spots? OK cool (not really)but you drop Bama 6. You want to drop Bama 3? OK raise A&M 3. That was the thing that pissed me off the most. They want it both ways C L E AR L Y to hold those SEC teams in a high holding position.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I think the SEC doesn't drop as much after losses because

Nov 12, 2012, 10:04 PM

they actually think they are better. By they, I mean ALL polls.

It will be this way untill they start getting beat on the field. The SEC has embarrassed other conferences in most high profile games the last 6 or 7 years. The only exception is A&M over Bama and A&M is now in the SEC.

Did the Big 12 get held to the same scrutiny when WVU, new on the block, went to Austin and won, or when ND crushed OK?

Other conferences will get a shot when we play USC, UF plays FSU, GT plays UGA, and in the bowls this year. Will the results be different? We'll see.

SEC has a losing record to other conferences in bowl games. Even the Big East LOL...look it up Joe Joe

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

All we knew about Bama was they were better than the Sec

Nov 12, 2012, 8:59 PM [ in reply to For sure but you don't flip the coin and do the exact same ]

Cause they never played anyone outside the sec, well except Ga Souther who had 350 yards rushing on them

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

LA tech is light years better on offense than

Nov 12, 2012, 8:56 PM [ in reply to I think you're kind of nutty. We could beat Bama at home ]

Any of them. They put 57 on A&M. UF? Ragin Cajuns had them beat, did you watch LSU vs Townson? How about UGA vs Buffalo?

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I just don't think you can cherry pick stats. You mentioned

Nov 12, 2012, 9:22 PM

LSU's games against Oregon and WVU, two teams they killed. In both games, LSU hard big leads, ran the ball and clock, and kept punting it back to both teams who had to pass.

Also don't forget that two of the SEC's best offenses the last 5 years, UF under Meyer and Auburn with Cam, ran spread offenses.

La. Tech light years.better than Bama, LSU, UF, UGA, USC offenses right now? I just don't see it...different philosophies for sure.
