Somebody fill me in...whats the magic behind $125 for Furman

Aug 23, 2018, 1:35 PM

tickets? There are countless items on Tiger Tickets and a good many of them are posted for $125 ($85 over face value ($40). Is that what the iptay donation amount adds to each seat for each game or something? This post isn't about criticizing or condoning it, i'm just puzzled as to why so many have that specific value for their tickets. Just curious.

Rising costs for IPTAY parking (through increased donation levels) and hoping to make some money since both schools are from upstate. But at $125/ticket, why not just watch it from the parking lot with a cooler of beer??

For good seats, the seat equity per ticket is as high as $114 per ticket.

Seat equity is related to buying season tickets year over year. If you are offering a single game ticket then seat equity should not apply. I also believe seat equity (IPTAY) donation is tax deductible in part so that should be factored in

You couldn't be more wrong.

An annual seat equity donation entitles you to buy tickets for THAT YEAR. Also, you should brush up on your income tax rules. IPTAY donations are no longer eligible for a tax deduction.

When I sold mine I had no idea of what the face value was because it is not printed on the e-tickets. I just took a median price of what people were asking for lower bowl seats. When you add the value of a decent parking pass and seat backs, it is certainly more than face value. I would take a chance at buying them outside the stadium, but other folks like to know where they are going to be sitting and don't like buying them that close to the game time.

Also depends on where the seats are. Last year for the Citadel game ($40 face I think) I paid $110 for lower bowl 45 yd line South tickets while upper deck 10 yd tickets were $40 or less.

Lower Deck also comes with a premium. I have uppers and struggle to get face for the crappy games even when including a parking pass. I don’t blame anyone for trying to make back some of their donation or seat equity. For champion donors a pair of Furman tickets costs them $194 ($80 for tickets and $114 for 1/7 of donation).

Howard Donors pay 214 per ticket if they have a pair.

Thats if you sold every game for 428 per pair of tickets you would break even.

So 125 for Furman seems like a deal for a lower deck ticket.
