Some may accuse me of using "circular logic" here, but, I

think that, regardless of his play, this is the last year we see DJ as a QB at Clemson. Follow my logic on this, through the various scenarios.
1) DJ plays lights out: If this happens, he is going to enter the NFL draft. I would be willing to bet that was he and "Big Dave's plan when he signed on to play at Clemson, leaving after his third year.
2) He struggles, and is replaced as the starter before the 5th game: This is the "Kelly Bryant scenario". He will almost certainly immediately hit the transfer portal in this case, and be gone.
3) He struggles, but is still the starter past the 5th game: At some point later in the season, in this scenario, Dabo will have to make the move to Klubnick. Reason being, if Cade is anything as good as advertised, he is NOT going to go into an offseason, and enter a second season with the prospect of sitting on the bench again, if DJ has a subpar season and decides to return for a fourth year. So, since it will be obvious to even Stevie Wonder by then that Cade is the future at QB, he will get the job, and DJ will transfer elsewhere to try and resurrect his NFL dreams as a starter at a new school.
So, ipso facto, yadda yadda yoo hoo, woo hoo, boo hoo, who knew, this coming season is the last for DJ in Clemson Orange.
Rebutt Heads?

My thoughts are that DJ will not be playing college ball next year no matter what. He will enter the draft and chase that NFL greed whether he has a good season or not. If he gets benched he will immediately hit the portal.

Sometime back I had a conversation about KB and TL with some other Tigers fans. I told them KB would never see the field as a QB in the NFL But if he wanted to play in the NFL he could get reps at WR and give himself a chance. He chose to be QB instead of chance at NFL.
Up to Right now
DJ has not shown he can be a NFL qb He can be a fairly successful college QB and he may be able to improve enough to get a shot at NFL - but right now based on what has been put on game film - no NFL.
So the question to me does he stubborn down to be QB or does he make a move position wise to give himself a NFL chance. And when and where does he do that
If he sticks with QB no matter what, he has to improve a lot in both mental and physical aspects.
I am rooting for him to have his Smoltz moment and cut loose and be that superstar QB But it better happen soon!

What position do you think DJ is capable of playing in the NFL besides QB? I don’t think there is one. If he can’t show dramatic improvement this year, he should make his way back to the diamond if he really wants to try and be a pro athlete.

Unfortunately, I don’t think DJ has the upside that KB had at another position. Even with the lost weight, DJ is slow compared to other position groups. Additionally, I’ve seen nothing to indicate he knows how to use his size or has any power. From what I’ve seen, he folds up pretty quickly upon contact.

Regardless of who ultimately gets the snaps and starts at QB

this season, considering DJ would still have two years of eligibility remaining following at minimum due to the Covid year, I don't see him going anywhere until season's end.
It's a long way 'til September.
Go Tigers!

That is what I said yesterday. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him transfer after the season, but I don’t think he transfers mid-season. Even if you transfer before the 4th game I think you still have to sit the rest of that season (or maybe I don’t fully understand the new portal rules - totally possible). He has 2 more years after this one because of Covid year 2020 so eligibility is not an issue.
