Why can’t Dabo find a Todd Monken?

Monken is a great OC and is perfectly happy just being an OC. I think he is one of the best in the game right now. Look at what he has done with Stetson at QB! Granted, he has plenty of studs to work with, but he tailors the O to the talent he has. That is a skill we just don’t have and haven’t had for a while with our O coordinator position.

Because a ‘Monken’ would come from outside the ‘tree’
I really feel Clemson will have to drop to close to .500 and miss the ACC title/playoff for a few year before Dabo will be willing to do that

Dabo spent the better part of the last two years telling us how awesome DJ was and how none of the problems are DJ’s fault. Now you want us to trust Dabo be cause we have a “functional qb now”.
I’d tell you to get your head out of the sand but that wouldn’t do any good, I’m afraid you have it lodged up Swinney’s posterior.

TP was 4th string at GT and has since re-entered the transfer portal. DJ had to play last year.
In 2022, we had a true freshman backup who showed he's not yet Trevor Lawrence or Deshaun Watson. Nothing wrong with that. He'll be great and the offense is and will take off. Regardless, we started 8-0, and DJ was playing SIGNIFICANTLY better. Cade came in at 178 pounds and while highly skilled has an OBVIOUS learning curve. He handed off to beat Syracuse and obviously wasn't ready against ND. He played great aginst UNC, but looked like a true freshman (with a great skillset) against UT. He is just now coming into form.
Long story short, we HAD to play DJ in 2021, was he winning games while the 179 lb backup was growing and developing. The rest is history now, and we're moving forward.
DJ played for perfectly valid reasons. And too, are you just now starting to follow Dabo Swinney? The man is a positive leader. He publicly promotes everyone in the program, especially when a kid is a loved team player and is giving a 110%.
Case closed. Move on.

Hey Kathleen, Dabo gets paid close to a million dollars a game to manage a roster so that we don’t have to rely on TP in 2021. You keep posting excuses to exonerate your husband but he is responsible for and has oversight over each and every issue you bring up. You actually continue to make the point that your husband has gotten complacent. He’s a great dude and he’s a positive dude. He ain’t infallible.

Talk about dysfunctional! Now granted, Stetson is 30 years old so his decision making discipline (maturity) is better, but his physical skills are not anywhere near as good as DJs or Cades, yet look at how they operate the O. TEs get used in very creative ways when the WRs are not getting it done!

1. We're not looking for an OC nor should we be.
2. Streeter worked miracles with a dysfunctional QB and deserves credit for that.
3. The offense has CLEARLY demonstrated a vast improvement, even with a still growing true freshman QB.
4. Monken has a great QB and perhaps the best roster in America. To insinuate Stetson has played anything short of elite over the last 2 years is downright ignorant. An OC can only call plays, the QB needs to make decisions and deliver the ball. Stetson is elite at at. Monken isn't calling magic plays or running a magic scheme. Stetson is getting it done at an elite level. Period.
Bottom line, again, we don't need an OC, we're not looking for an OC, and you have no clue whatsoever how much more the offense will improve as Cade grows.
I fully got your griping point. Unfortunately it wasn't based in reality. Not one bit.

Why would Monken (2x OC in the NFL) want to work for a guy like Dabo with his Waffle House menu playchart on the sideline. Besides, a guy like that would be a culture killer ?

anyone can call plays. He has a consistent system based on running the ball first and it sets everything else up. Barrett is perfect for it too. We could not just install a similar OC and expect to look the same because we don't have that mentality or talent upfront. Could we upgrade at OC from what we have? Probably so.
