I've been going through depth charts and stats all day out of boredom...

In 2015, Auburn's starting linebackers combined for 35 solo tackles whereas Dorian, Ben & BJ combined for 126 solo tackles.

I keep hearing about Carl Lawson... He has 5 solo tackles all year last year? Shaq had 35, Dodd had 46. I mean... Where's the production? I'm confused.

Carlton Davis must be the best remaining guy on their defense.

Carl Lawson only played in parts of 4 games last year due to injuries. Make no mistake, that dude is a baller and a legit first rd draft pick.

And if I'm not mistaken, we tried to recruit Lawson to Clemson. Him and Montravius Adams, Adams I think most of us thought would commit to Clemson....

Aug 26, 2016, 7:59 PM [ in reply to Re: so who's nervous about Auburn? ]

So he amassed 5 solo tackles in 4 games? Shaq Lawson had 4 solo tackles and 2 sacks in the national championship game with his arm dangling from its socket and a sprained knee. Just saying. Out of their top 15 tacklers from last season, I think there's only 3 left... And all of their top 5-6 tacklers are in the secondary. To me, that means whoever has the ball is getting beyond the first line of defense and the linebacker corps. It's hard to be a first round draft pick as a defensive end or tackle with 5 solo tackles on the season.

I believe Lawson was hurt

Listen, I'm a realist. I'm sure he's good. In fact, I know they're good, more than a couple of them. All I'm saying is that I have supreme confidence in my team and it's not the orange glasses like it once was. I watched Mitch Hyatt handle all the pros, and as a freshman, not only with grace but with authority. And all year long. Our offensive line is ranked #2 in the nation. Not because of our beards, tribal tattoos or Finebaum sound bites but because we earned it. There's a reason there's a #2 next to our name on the scoreboard and no number next to there's. There's a reason they're cherry-picking from JuCo's, taking ole miss transfers, moving seniors to new positions, and hiring their 5th defensive coordinator in SIX years.

I'm a realist. I try to formulate opinions on fact not fiction. And I think we win. I'm confident we do. And big.

Re: so who's nervous about Auburn?

Aug 26, 2016, 7:19 PM

with Sean White and no wide receivers/running backs worth mentioning for allburn, I really don't think we have anything to worry about. Save for a few critical mistakes by Clemson (throwing a pick six, turnovers giving them short fields to work with, special teams messing up) god forbid, it should be at least a 10-14 point ballgame

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Should be a 21-28 pt win. If we win by 10, we had many busts, turnovers and head-scratching lapses

Aug 26, 2016, 7:34 PM

On O.

Really don't see Deshaun spiking the ball on 3rd down with the clock stopped this time.

Or our guys not taking care of the football. WRs are vets. In the rare event that DW doesn't hit a guy in stride, if it's a 50/50 ball, they'll come down with it, and if they don't have a chance to make a play, they know to become a DB and knock the ball down

AU will not be able to keep up even in a game Clemson plays at up to 50% of it's potential.

Hate to be that guy to rain on your panic parade, but I'm simply stating fact. All of it. Fact.

Re: so who's nervous about Auburn?

Aug 26, 2016, 7:44 PM [ in reply to Re: so who's nervous about Auburn? ]

It's not that simple. Don't forget, Auburn recruits with the best of us, and the 2016 class was no exception. They signed 3 WR's that we were very high on in Nate Craig-Myers, Kyle Davis and Eli Stove, and WR is one of the easiest positions to play as a FR in their system. Sean White was highly regarded out of high school in 2015 and this offseason could've provided him ample time to develop and better learn their system. They also signed 4 high 4* DL that we were pushing for including Antwaan Jackson and 5* Derrick Brown. They aren't lacking for talent, and if you think this game will be a breeze you're wrong. This is a hungry team, which makes them a dangerous team in the very first game of the season. If their coaching staff gets them somewhat prepared it will be a battle. I think we should win by 14-17 as well, or it very well could be a blowout but I'm not ready to just discount a team that has as much talent as we do. Coaching and DW4 will be the difference.

Re: so who's nervous about Auburn?

Aug 26, 2016, 8:08 PM

Lol all that just to make the same score prediction that I did, interesting. I never brought up their defense I only said that they had an average QB (which they do) and average skill players (which they do) if you believe that three freshman receivers will develop and greatly produce against ours, then that's fine but I think it's wrong to assume that. I'm not discounting them completely but from reading your post I get some undertones that you're secretly an auburn fan lol. Maybe I'm wrong

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Im always nervous unless its just a pushover of a team.

I know what you're saying but my brother-in-law is a huge bama fan and I usually end up watching the iron bowl with him, so I've seen them play almost every year. Sure, this is a different Auburn team this year but have they really approved? That's what I'm basing my confidence on I suppose

I always feel some type of way. Idk if nervous is what it is. Im confident just ready to see this new team. You never know what could happen and Auburn has talent but i have faith in our D and i know DW will lead us to victory.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

not at all worried about winning the game; however,

Aug 26, 2016, 8:06 PM

I am worried about Auburn's players feeling dejection, packing it in, and playing even more dirty than they normally do. Worried about cheap shots on #4

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

in that it is the 1st game in a hostile setting, yes.

Aug 26, 2016, 8:20 PM

Talent-wise we should beat them. They will be motivated. They will have a huge, loud crowd. But most concerning is simply the fact that it is the first game. I was at Wofford last year. It ain't easy to get the engine started smoothly, I don't care who you are.

I wouldn't say I'm nervous but I am very anxious. just thinking back through history it always sits in the back of my mind of what if this happens or what if that happens which makes me nervous. I do feel like this clemson team is different than any clemson team we have ever seen. Their confidence and demeanor is just amazing....

First game of the season always makes me nervous regardless of who we are playing. I just need to see DW4 with that first touchdown and the defense hold Auburn to one quick three and out.

After that, my nerves will settle.

I know this team has the talent it needs to do this....I just need to make sure my nerves don't rub off on them.

Re: so who's nervous about Auburn?

Not what you would call nervous, but not overconfident either. Clemson Tigers
must bring the A-Game to win at Auburn. Alabama would have to do the same.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

At the risk of being accused of posting negatively,

Aug 27, 2016, 6:13 PM

We should all be a little nervous since it's opening game, on the road, against an SEC team in front of 91,000 fans. But I think Dabo will have the team ready. It will be a closer game than most think, probably 34-30 win for Clemson. It's will be a good cardiac workout but Clemson should come away with the win.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

always nervous. Every game. Anything can happen.
