So we think our Dline is as good or close to UGA’s Dline?

That means the coaches watched our oline go against a similar Dline in practice. And they had no game plan to account for this continuing sever weakness? That’s inexcusable.

That's what I was asking last night

if our d is as good as it is
how were they unaware that the offense was that bad. And o line was even worse.

Well, we heard over and over again that the defense was dominating the offense. We kept hearing about DJ throwing picks and the bright spots for the offense seemed few and far between. So maybe they were aware, but Elliott is such a terrible coach (great recruiter, but horrible coach, which I was saying even in 2018), he might have thought his offense was still elite and the defense was just that good.

It's just inexcusable. Clemson is in the top 5 for bluechips on offensive line. They have the #1 QB from two years ago. Top 3 in wide receiver talent including someone many would call the best WR in college football. Supposedly three elite tight ends. And a bunch of running backs (also, why the hell did they never try Mafah? I get the offensive line was horrible, but if your backs can't get past the LOS, why not run your most powerful back?). There was no excuse for that performance last night. 2 rushing yards on 23 attempts? How many times did Clemson cross the 50?

Why gameplan like Trevor is still on the field. We know 5 receiver sets take time and we knew our oline was a weakness, yet we gameplan like we were OSU last year with a monster seasoned oline. That's coaching and should have been handled. Not having a true slot is on coaching too.

Agree. Ross has no business playing slot.***

Tough comparison to make...

Sep 5, 2021, 12:22 PM

Both D lines are great and elite, but that’s about the only similarity. Their D line is built to run an odd front, although it seemed like they went even quite a bit last night. They have larger bodied space eaters designed to stop the run. Our D line is smaller and more athletic and designed to get upfield and create negative plays...rush the passer and stop spread offenses. It’s a hard comparison to make. UGA D line is most impressive in that they are very athletic for their size. You’ll several of those dudes playing on Sunday.
