games that they really want to win. And typically, they win those games because of the emotional high it gives the players and coaches. I think that’s why if I were a head coach I would circle all the games on my team’s schedule. This would give us an emotional edge in all of the games, not just one.

Someone should fax this thread over to Dabo in case he doesn't know.

Well, that is the trick with the Title XIXIXIXIIXIIXXXXVIX
You only have so many circles. First Football and Soccer get the first group. Since we added softball, they get some more. All others get their share and this at the end, mens basketball only get to circle about half of their games. They have to use triangles.
Have you ever tried to dribble a triangle. It is hopeless.

Case in point. Ohio State loses to Clemson in 1978 Gator Bowl. Woody Hayes goes beserk. Hits Clemson player and gets fired. Ohio State loses to Clemson 40-35 in 2014 Orange Bowl. Bucknuts come in as 3.5 point favorites to Clemson in 2016 CFP and lose 31-0. Physical Ohio State team loses to Tigers again in 2020 playoffs as Clemson grinds it out 29-23 in 2nd half.
Now an angry Ryan Day steps in as coach and CIRCLES 2021 playoff games vs. Clemson Tigers. Bucks step up and play another physical game and run it up for 49-28 win over Tigers. Then Coach Day remembers he has another game for natl championship vs. Bama in 9 days. But Bucknuts are completely spent. Bama waltzes to 2021 championship 52-24.
+1 FM! Great post!

I agree. Furthermore, we (Clemson fans and hopefully the teams do it too) should circle every day of the year on the calendar. Can our school ever be stopped if we were to go out and win every single day?!

There’s some compelling research out there on blending these circles.

Imagine the normal emphasis a circled game carries, only exponentially higher due to intersections of multiple circles. Research is only now unveiling the tip of this iceberg, so I hope Dabo & Co. catch on before others do.

Well…….if we’re gonna go through all this “circle drawin” trouble, then let’s draw a circle around Nancey Tate and then give Creech AFB a call and have them “service” that circle.
