So Ron Morris answered my email about the asterisk

Oct 28, 2012, 11:14 PM

He claimed that Tahj's record deserves an asterisk
because he was taken out after he got it.

I said 'Whiskey Tango Foxtrot"?

CD Vegas Tiger,
The issue was Swinney leaving a player in the game for the express purpose of breaking a record. When that happens, an asterisk should be attached to it. It would not have happened under normal circumstances. The fact that Swinney took him out on the next play after breaking the record tells you that is what happened.
Not a big deal. Just deserves an asterisk.

Ron,

Clemson had only scored 35 points by that time. Are you as critical
of teams like Texas Tech, WVA and even Spurrier's Florida teams when
they run up riduculous scores with the starters?

Is he saying that under normal circumstances with a 28-0 lead in the first half you would pull your starters?

Kansas was behind Colorado 45-17 in the 4th quarter and won the game a couple of years ago. Clemson has rallied down 28-0 nothing before.

Has he watched our defense this year? Sounds like MoRon is trying to crawl his way outta the coots' doghouse.

under "normal circumstances", he would've played the entire game, so whoever breaks Boyd's record should have an asterisk since Boyd didn't play the whole game. Unless they broke the record at an earlier point in the game, therefore not requiring the asterisk, but then if he's benched after breaking the record, use an ampersand/percentage sign combo. Or an umlaut. Can I get a keyboard with umlauts?
