Arch Manning

Feb 16, 2022, 7:49 AM

Down to Bama and school that starts with a T per ESPN. So that would mean Texas or the Vols. I would think Texas. So Bama and Texas.

Who cares! There was only one school any of us were interested in ,and it began with the letter "C".

I follow college football so I am interested where the good players go. I guess you have to be a college football fan as a whole to be interested.

In the '22 class Bama has Ty Simpson and Texas has Ewers. Georgia has Stockton. Pick your poison

Re: Arch Manning

Feb 16, 2022, 5:27 PM

Good point, but they are claiming Arch is another similar to his dad and uncle. They are acting like he will beat anyone out. I watched Simpson play and he is no Cade. Ewers I have no idea.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Arch Manning

Feb 16, 2022, 10:57 PM

From what I saw of Ewers, he's a monster. He gets sloppy and careless at times because it all comes so easy to him. I've seen very few QBs who seem to be such a natural. The downside with that kind of player is that they often get lazy and stop working hard. Manning has all the genetics in the world, plus the best coaching you can have, and you know he works hard. I don't know what would happen there. Ty would totally be a seat-warmer for Arch, kind of like how Hunter Johnson was expected to be for Trevor.

Re: Arch Manning

Ewers will be a junior when Arch is a freshman. That's the right situation.

Re: Arch Manning

Feb 16, 2022, 8:46 AM [ in reply to Re: Arch Manning ]

Texas would be a big mistake for him.
Alabama would be competitive, like Clemson.
I still think Georgia, Tennessee or maybe Ole Miss, less competitive for him to start.
I would bet on Alabama.

If it's Alabama it will be interesting to see how Saban handles the Arch rat poison. Most people in the press and fanbases have him winning three National Championships and two Heisman's before jumping to the NFL. A friendly reminder that the last Manning to win a National Championship was Danny at Kansas.

I hope he goes to Texas. That would be interesting to see how they would do. They have a long way to go. We're not a good fit for him anyway imo, due to the fact that Cade is a stud and one year ahead. If Cade were two years ahead it might make sense.

I agree. I think he will do well anywhere, but certain teams he might go to wouldn't win a National Title imo. Ole Miss? No The Vols? No Texas? Kind of a stretch.

Manning's mechanics may be good, he may have the name and he may do well in the future but at this point he has not played against the type of competition that Cade has played against.

Feb 17, 2022, 8:13 PM [ in reply to Re: Arch Manning ]

I think he wants to go where he'll get championships and a Heisman or two. He can get the Championships at Clemson, but not the Heisman with the way Dabo only lets his QBs play no deeper than the start of the 3rd quarter unless it's close. A QB here doesn't get the opportunity to pad his stats in the 3rd & 4th quarter as he does elsewhere.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Arch Manning

Feb 16, 2022, 11:02 PM [ in reply to Re: Arch Manning ]

Yeah, but it was absolute BS that Peyton didn't win the Heisman. Woodson was good, but people were just riding high on his performance against Ohio State. He took a mediocre Tennessee team and made them the second best team in football.

I didn't because I had never saw him play until he got to Clemson. I have watched Cade play. He is stud. As long as he stays healthy we have a great QB. I know that.

Re: Arch Manning

Feb 16, 2022, 11:04 PM [ in reply to Re: Arch Manning ]

I've always thought he'd go to Alabama. He's very unlikely to leave the SEC. He might be the last QB for Saban. Every QB dominates with the talent Alabama has at every position. Arch would likely be the best one they ever had. I don't know about the multiple heisman talk, but I'd be surprised if he didn't win a title or two.

Considering what he's looking for, Bama is the best place for him. We've got our next star QB.

Because some of us are interested in college football and couldn't care less if he comes to Clemson or not. it is interesting where players go though. It's fun keeping a finger on the pulse of college football as whole. Some of us aren't that sensitive and just like talking college football. I am happy with who will have as QB as is.

Re: So did he give reason why he is no longer

Feb 16, 2022, 11:07 PM

Why do you think man? We had a horrible season then lost the biggest reason for our success (other than our two QBs). We hired a no-name internally rather than getting an outside star. We didn't recruit very well this year, missed on almost all our top targets, and by far our best recruit is a direct competitor to Arch. We also lost Elliott and then promoted pure cancer to the new OC position. He'd be an idiot to come and be coached by Streeter.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: So did he give reason why he is no longer

Feb 18, 2022, 4:55 AM

Most of that was laughable. We didn't have a horrible season. We won 10 games. Only 24 teams had at least 10 wins. There 130 schools. That's far from awful. It wasn't as good as we wanted, but the offense was not something to be excited apart obviously. Anyway, we usually hire within or people with Dabo or Clemson ties, but of course not always. We got Deshaun Watson with a no name OC. Chad Morris wasn't a big name OC. Elliot wasn't a big name before he became OC. We missed out on our targets because our coaches left and the season wasn't exciting, but mainly because our coaches left. Why would you think Streeter in a cancer? That post was weak..

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: So did he give reason why he is no longer

Feb 18, 2022, 10:36 PM

We were considered by many the championship favorites and had an extremely easy schedule outside of our first game. Falling from a 6 time playoff team - title contender to barely top 25 is a huge fall. Maybe you're happy with a top 25 season in the worst P5 conference (which it was last year). I would call it horrible, especially when many of those wins came at the very last minute. Chad Morris was obscure, the OC at Tulsa, but he was an outside hire who was an up and comer who had proven himself great at coaching QBs. Garrett Gilbert raved about him. So our most successful offensive coach was an outside hire, just like our most successful defensive coach.

Elliott was NOT a good offensive coordinator. We degraded dramatically after Jeff Scott left. You should check the times for when we missed our targets. The only major target we lost after our coaches left was ETN's brother and that guy who decommitted. The others came beforehand. Streeter was our worst QB in school history statistically (I know he didn't have a good line for those who know Clemson history). We for some reason hired him to be our QB coach. Here's what we know of that: (1) Deshaun hired a private passing coach, and it seems like he didn't trust ours; (2) Kelly Bryant, Chase Brice, Zerrick Cooper, Hunter Johnson, and Puma were all well-regarded recruits who never improved their passing skills while at Clemson, and some regressed. Some of those improved their passing once they left Clemson; (3) in a lot of our minds, Trevor never improved as a passer over his three years. He became a better football player and learned the playbook, but he lost some of his passing mechanics the more he worked with Streeter; and (4) DJ went from a unanimous #1, national title winning high school QB, considered by everyone a top 5 draft pick and compared to Big Ben or better, who showed he could perform at the college level by having two of the best freshman games in CFB history (including against a playoff team), to the second worst QB in all of college football, after spending a year coached by Streeter. So, we're talking 8 QBs over 7 years. One constant. Streeter.

You should probably learn something about our history (instead of posting 100 times a day) before mocking a post that is based on our actual past. Otherwise, the sunshine pumpers might like you, but you look dumb to those who know better.
