So, apparently over the past 7 days, the rule for determing

Nov 27, 2021, 2:50 PM

a catch has taken a 180 and the ball moving when you hit the ground is no longer the determining factor as to whether it was a catch or not. I have seen this in the Bama game last week, and just now in the Ohio State game.

not to mention the ball touched the ground

i always thought you couldnt use the ground to help catch the ball

They have explained it that way for 15 years at least.***

Well boys, I guess it depends on who’s “catching” it***

Re: not to mention the ball touched the ground

Nov 27, 2021, 3:06 PM [ in reply to not to mention the ball touched the ground ]

"A little ball movement while the player has control doesn't change much — even if the ball touches the ground — unless he loses that control. “If the ball touches the ground after the player secures control and continues to maintain control, and the elements above are satisfied, it is a catch.”"

In other words-it's whoever the official has side money on

Take a closer look at the rule book for the "unless Bama" and "unless Ohio State" clause in fine print. ;)

Sometimes the road to the truth is so elusive it's confusing and reality becomes illusion.
