A significant portion of the proceeds from the sale of the T-shirts goes directly back into military programs on Clemson's campus.

The shirts are available at Barnes & Noble Bookstore and Stadium Stores on campus, Mr. Knickerbocker's, The Tiger Sports Shop and Judge Keller's in Clemson, Palmetto Moon in Greenville, Courtyard by Marriott in Clemson and select local Target stores, as well as online at Fanatics.com and the Official Online Store of ClemsonTigers.com

I do sincerely appreciate your attempt at an answer but that doesnt tell anyone very much. If I'm supporting something I like to know specifically what it is. Seems getting that out there could diffuse this

I agree - if they had more information about the approval process to use the logo and about where specifically the shirt profits are going then that would definitely help.

the student military organizations on campus (Army ROTC an Air Force ROTC).

As I understand it, the University did obtain approval from the Department of Defense to use the Purple Heart logo.

From the ClemsonTigers.com press release:

"The shirts are also available at Barnes & Noble Bookstore and Stadium Stores on campus, Mr. Knickerbocker's, The Tiger Sports Shop and Judge Keller's in Clemson, Palmetto Moon in Greenville, Courtyard by Marriott in Clemson and select local Target stores, as well as online at Fanatics.com and the Official Online Store of ClemsonTigers.com."

The proceeds are going to student military organizations on campus.

Seems like the major issue with the shirts is whether the purple heart logo should be used. We did apparently seek DoD approval to use the logo (We as in student government).

The FB page is saying the logo in in poor design.....petty attention seeking fools...plenty of PH recipients have no problem with it. And the guy on there clearly stated he was trying to get the proceeds to go to his organization. Basically criminal in what they are trying to do.

I sincerely thank you for service, Bengal. I didn't serve, but have several relatives who did (inc. one who was awarded the PH). I don't see how any rational person could be offended. More political correctness run amok.....with a splash of coots making a mountain out of a mole hill. A non-issue for ppl who think for themselves and employ common sense.

I may get one of these shirts...

Nov 1, 2013, 8:19 AM

There are only $15.

So are people really upset about this? There are a few of us here on TNet that have been saying for years that Purple Jerseys for Purple Hearts on Military Appreciation Day would be a cool new tradition.

My dad has two Purple Hearts from Vietnam, and my family all think this is a cool idea.

New Tradition...Every Military Appreciation Day the team wears Purple Jerseys.

Is the team wearing Purple for this game?
