Yeah, I'm sure women athletes don't know as much about the subject as some armchair bubbas on a bulletin board. That you point out that some of them may be lesbians doesn't make your argument sound any better. Just makes you sound like you have hang-ups.
I think what these women athletes know is that difficulty in getting access to sports - it took Title IX to get good women's sports support at the college level. They really don't have a fear of competing against trans athletes. That isn't their concern. They think it is good for every kid to compete in sports - that there are benefits of playing sports for everyone. I'm sure they are aware that there are other people to whom that isn't important, who have some nonsensical "I don't want my little Suzy competing against a man" at top of mind, even though that really isn't much of an issue.

I read the article you posted. One of the athletes talked about what soccer meant to her and how glad she was that she could still play soccer after coming out as a lesbian. There is a huge difference between a lesbian playing women’s sports and a man who has undergone a partial sex change competing in women’s sports. The disagreement is around gender, not sexual preference.

Neff and Clemson need to embrace this while they still can. It would be a win-win for the University and fans. All they have to do is tell the men’s basketball team that the whole team will now identify as women. Knock Dan Staley of he/his pedestal in Columbia = win, take home the women’s basketball championship = win.
