Destiny!

SEC-Us, FSU, NC State, VaTech. Gives SEC two new populous states (20 total)

Big 12-Lulsville, Pitt, Wake, Boeheim's and Colorado, Arizona, AZ State, Utah, Stanford, Cal, Wash St, Oregon St (24 total)

ACC-UConn, Coastal, ECU, Temple, Old Dominion, Marshall, GaSouthern, USF, FlaAtlantic, Charlotte, Delaware, Maine, Slippery Rock, PC, Campbell, Benedict, Voorhees, North Greenville, Gardner Webb, Buffalo (20 total teams)

that if the $EC elects to only add two more teams, the league would take Virginia and UNC instead of Clemson and FSU.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

UVA and UNC doesn't bring half the eyeballs FSU/Clemson do***

Therein lies the question...

May 16, 2023, 10:10 AM

Do leagues opt for the better draw in markets where there is already a presence or do they try to expand the TV market footprint into areas they don't already have a presence even if a school might not be as big a draw.

Ratings say otherwise, plus the B1G is coming hard

for southern teams IMO. State and VT bring eyeballs in populous states, and better foosball comparatively

Have you even thought for 1 second how hard scheduling would be for a 24 member conference? We went through all this conference talk last year and we will going through it again next year. The ACC is going nowhere.

At what pulse % do posters finally get banned? I’m hoping you’re close to that number.

Lol, I recall seeing an 8% on here awhile ago. Although, I

don't think that one lasted very long once it got under 10%. Hate to burst your bubble, but Valley Boy is only one of a scok army, if you cut off his head, ten more will arise in his place.

You're right! They'll just have 20 new teams

4 divisions with staggered interdivisional play. It's not rocket science. Some teams you won't play but every 4-5 years. If the SEC is 20 teams, we're paired up with UGA, SCU, Nancy St and VT. FSU, UF, Bama, Auburn and Kentucky. Ole Mi$$, Miss ST, LSU, Vandy and UT. aTm, Texas, OU, Arky and Mizzou. Of course, we could swap UGA for KY and be sittin' purdy

Hmmm

Someone else mentioned: the money has to support the new programs. No one is splitting the current deals just to find homes for ACC schools.

Wake fits in nowhere. They just don’t have successful athletics or passionate fans.

Syracuse might land in the Big East again. Or wherever UCONN goes. Same value proposition.

Duke too. B1G is a stretch for them with zero football value.

I think the SEC would jump for UNC because they are well rounded athletically. Same for B1G. They are well positioned.

GA Tech could go either way but their recent impotence could hurt their value assessment. Big 12 grade or higher though.

Can’t say the same for NCSU or VT. These two probably won’t add 60MM/yr each in value to a TV contract. It would have to be because of needing to add any 2 schools to meet a specific number (kind of like Mizzou being the SEC Plus One to make 14 for scheduling purposes).

Luckily Clemson is football heavy. Us letting basketball sleep walk for 10 years doesn’t help any arguments. But our football value will carry us far.

FSU is solid in a variety of successful sports.

Miami is tricky. Great past history but with recent history more like NCSU and GA Tech. I’m just not buying that their location helps other schools recruit. We’ve also seen that Miami’s sports markets can be very apathetic when they aren’t winning titles. B1G might buy them just for the option of a sunny travel weekend. But Big 12 pair for UCF seems more likely if the money is right.

UL and Pitt seem like Big 12 fits with WVU.

I’m not thinking the ACC will stick around legally if the 8 break it up. I think it has to go away for this to work.

I'll play. Why not?

May 15, 2023, 10:54 PM

SEC - Clemson, FSU, UNC
B1G - ND, Miami, UVA
Big 12 - Pitt, UL, VT, NCSU

The ones I am most confident of ending up where I put them are ND and the 4 Big 12 teams.
The ones I am least confident of are Miami and UNC. (They could be flipped.)

I don’t think Virginia and Virginia Tech will go to different conferences. I remember how Virginia stuck their necks out to get V. Tech into the ACC.

May 16, 2023, 10:47 AM [ in reply to I'll play. Why not? ]

SEC. Clemson and FSU - only programs that might not be dilutive to future revenue distributions
Big 10: UNC and UVA or Ga Tech- new geography and matching academics

New Big 12. Provides a home for current ACC schools who most likely will be left out if the Big 10 and SEC expand. Not a bad football conference and probably a #1 Basketball conference. Pods could be changed and scheduling would not be that difficult. Former ACC schools would most likely receive a revenue distribution similar to what they get today which would be performance appropriate. In fact, in might increase given the # of potential participants in the NCAA bball tournament.

Pod 1. Boston College, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Louisville, West Va, Va Tech
Pod 2. NC State, Duke, Ga Tech, UCF, Miami, Wake Forest
Pod 3. Kansas, Kansas St, Iowa St, BYU, Colorado, Utah
Pod 4. Texas Tech, Houston, Baylor, TCU, Okla State

Re: I'll play. Why not?

May 16, 2023, 10:56 AM

I should have noted that ACC schools except Clemson and FSU might be considered for the big 10 or SEC but only at partial revenue sharing. So maybe Miami which has done nothing in football since coming to the ACC agrees to a Big 10 invite but their revenue share % is paired to their revenue contribution. This way the existing memberships revenue is not diluted. Same might hold true for the SEC. If you’re Miami and you think you are better than the Big 12, you might take $50M with the the Big 10 vs a full share of $90 million. It would still be better than the BIG 12 share and they would be in the Big 10.

Haha - Love your “new” ACC
