Make money. Play less. Spend more time with your family.

The money is coming from the Saudi Sovereign Wealth Fund.
I hope the tour is a flop and the Saudi’s move on to something else in a few years.

This tour might be great for the players but I like the PGA format better. I like to see the players earn it instead of guaranteed money.

48 golfers in 4 man teams playing for 25 million per tournament. Only 54 holes per tournament instead of 72. PGA just announced top50 will be playing for 30 million per event for 3 to 4 events starting soon. Funny how they suddenly found money

So where does the $$$$$ come from, is it legit, is it rigged?? Who can tell me the nuts and bolts?

LIV is funded by wealthy Saudi's and the Saudi government

Jun 21, 2022, 5:47 PM

The total purse for each LIV Golf Invitational Series tournament is $25 million. Of that $25 million, $5 million will be awarded to teams while $20 million will go to the individual players.

The Team Championship, which will take place during the eighth and final series event of the season, will dish out an additional $50 million.

For comparison, the Masters and PGA Championship, two crown jewels of the the PGA calendar, had purses of $15 million apiece in 2022.

Easy - follow the $$$
An incredible year in the PGA tour (over 20 events, a few wins, a lot of top 5s/10s) and you might make 8 million. This year, Scheffler is at 13 million (crazy), but Rory is second at 7 million. It's rumored these players are being offered way more money in a signing bonus to play in half the events (think 100 million or more). And the money is guaranteed regardless of how you finish. The play to me, looks almost exhibition like. Pick teams and play 54 holes.

3 rounds instead of 4, more money.

It’s basically like trading a sassy perfect 10 that can’t cook with one that can and doesn’t have a smart mouth.

Bunch of rich Saudi camel jockeys are indebted to Greg

Jun 22, 2022, 8:14 PM

Norman for some reason. Greg Norman, also for reasons unclear, has a 30+ year beef with the PGA Tour. So, he has convinced his rich Saudi friends to literally throw HUNDREDS of millions of dollars away buying golfers, to get them off the PGA Tour. They are being given these multimillion dollar signing bonuses, and guaranteed money in each event, no matter how badly they play. Several players have gotten in xs of 100 million. Mickelson, Johnson, Dechambeau, with Brooks Koepka likely to get as much or more than them.

The "golf" itself is a convoluted team event, with shotgun starts on each hole, no cuts, and only 54 holes total.

It is a concerted effort by Norman to just wreck the PGA Tour, for some reason. And frankly, unless all the Majors get together and decide to ban LIV players, it may just work. The Masters, US Open, Open Championship, and PGA are the only events the top golfers really give two craps about anyway. When you retire, nobody but you will care how many Sandersen Farms or John Deere Classic tour events you won.

All eyes will be focused on Augusta National as next years first major, to see what they will do. The others will most likely follow suit with whatever they do.

Norman wasn’t their first choice, he had nothing to do with putting the LIV together. They tried for Jack Nicklaus , he turned down 100 million plus. This thing was happening with or without Norman.

Tour is pissed they couldn't get all the way into the Saudi's pockets. All they get is the coins and lint. So now the PGA is stuck with China.

For the athletes - freedom to choose, celebrating capitalism, earn what you are worth

Jun 22, 2022, 11:20 PM

Also, the US Gov’t doesn’t care about Saudi Arabia’s politics and social norms. Why should the golfers? Go out there and make it rain!

I am hopeful that is simple enough for you to understand.

You can bet this will end up in the courts, if the PGA tries

Jun 23, 2022, 6:17 AM

to prevent LIV participants from playing in the majors! The courts will rule that the players aren't employees of the PGA, but 1099 workers, so they can play anywhere they want.

If that were the case millions of bad golfers would play pga events. You gotta have a card. No legal stuff needed or required. LIV will flip fantastically because of lack of public interest. Shell's wonderful world of golf would still be on tv otherwise
