Silver Lining?

Jun 3, 2012, 10:25 PM

I do not quite understand the talk of replacing Jack Leggett.

He runs quite a good program and develops some character kids.

A lot of schools would be proud to have a program like Clemson's.

It may look bad that he hasn't gotten the team a national title yet but it just happens that his chief rivals and the guys that keep ending Clemson's seasons are the guys that are the defnding National Champs...meaning they are the best team across the landscape.

Hell, IMO if you take the "Gamecocks" off the front of the opposing team's jersey, the minority calling for a change in coaching would be a fraction of what it is now.

I disagree. There was an earlier post that showed our record over the last 5 years......only winning 39% against the top 25 and 61% overall. That is not getting it done. It hurts more given that scar has done what they've done, but regardless, our record against top teams over the last 5 years paints a picture of a team that is in decline. We lost great assistants in O'Sullivan and Corbin and have not hired replacements of the same caliber. As a result our recruiting and fundamentals have suffered and we are now a middle of the pack in our own conference level team. That is not acceptable !

Dude...in the last four years we have gone backwards as a program and it is not getting better. Over those four years we have missed the tournament once, been eliminated by SC twice (0-4 against them), and lost a regional at home to a bad Connecticut team. This is unexceptable!!! If you are happy with mediocrity...welcome to Clemson baseball under the direction of Jack Leggett. Combine the fact he does not recruit the state of SC (because he does not believe there are any players good enough), along with back-to-back National Championships by our arch rival (to whom he has a losing record) and it all adds up to...FIRE Jack NOW!!!

you are 100% correct; his job is to win and he is failing.
