Just goes to show you the greed of a media conglomerate vs the loyalty of a homegrown club owner. It really is a sad situation. The lockout itself was ridiculous and purely greed driven.

Freddie Freeman is the heart and soul of the Braves just like Chipper Jones, Terry Pendleton and guys like Dale Murphy. Domes it not about the money ?? f you want to maintain team chemistry.
For you guys who remember the Big Red Machine who won the World Series in 75 and 76 could possibly have won it in 77 and 78. But the traded Tony Perez who played first base. Tony may not have been the best player but he was the guy who came through with big hits and was the inspiration for many of the younger guys.
Freddie Freeman is the Tony Perez for the Braves. But he is also the inspiration for the team. If the Braves let him go , there no one available that can give the Braves anything more than a warm body at first base. The Braves will become a different team. It may be another 20 plus years before they win the WS. IMO with Freddie and guys coming back from injuries the Braves have a chance to win repeat as WS champion’s.
TigerCC you are spot on the Braves better sign Freeman. I wish Ted Turner still owned the Braves. He is one of the few owner’s who wanted to win and would invest time, effort and money into the team.
But I feel Freeman needs to comprise some with the Braves. I just don’t see him as an LA kind of guy.

I am a lifelong Braves fan and If we don’t resign Freddie I am boycotting for one year. The only way Freddie leaves is If the Braves make Freddie mad and they may have done just that. This money hungry World is really in a mess. Money is not the root of all evil, but the love of money certainly is.

Just for clarity, I am not talking about Freeman because he will stay in Atlanta for less money but wants an extra year or two in order to make sure he retires a Brave and does not have to move his family. I have to believe the Braves re-sign Freddie by tomorrow night.

So if they extend the years, but keep the total offer amount the same- you will then blame FF for not staying?

Considering the $$$ the Braves are worth right now

and,...
- How cheap they have Acuna and Albies locked up for,
- How good they've done identifying talent and getting it for less,
- How much his team members have expressed to sign him already,
- How reliable he's been his whole career.
I think he's definitely worth the highest 1st base contract in the league. The highest is currently around 23 mil a year. I'm not sure he's worth 30 a year, but, I have a hard time seeing where he doesn't demand it.
