Should Tigers be vaccinated?

Jun 30, 2021, 1:22 PM

It is too bad politics got into this, but sadly politics get into all things these days.
I would never tell anyone to get the vaccine or not to get the vaccine.
I would hope no one even has a vaccine card, much less check on others.
If some want to take precautions (masks, distancing, voodoo, etc) or not, I am OK with that.

-- As a kid polio was a real thing, all got the vaccine and it was mostly wiped out. No more of my friends got Polio.
-- As a kid friends got typhoid, then every year we got shots (hurt and made your whole arm numb). No more of my friends got typhoid.
-- Going in the Army got all kinds ?? of shots. Walk down a line and they fired whatever into you with air guns (no opting out), both arms bled. Before shipping over seas got a bunch ?? more.
-- Since then have gotten vaccines to fight against things like Tetanus and hepatitis.
-- I most years get the yearly flu vaccine.
-- I was eager and near first in line to get the Covid vaccine (Moderna) in February, experienced no ill effects.

I am a 75 year old Tiger Fan. Has all that crap helped me -> don't know. Over the years the medical community has patched me up on occasions and helped me to live a better life. I trust them to do the best they can. I know it is sometimes hit or miss, but ~~~ who you gonna call?
I remain healthy, active, strong, and take no medications. All the vaccines over the last 70 years aint done me no harm.

Clemson requires immunizations for entry into the student body (and faculty) for:
---MMR (measles, mumps, rubella)
---Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis)
---Meningococcal
And recommends immunization for:
---Hep A and Hep B
---Varicella
---HPV

Because smallpox and polio are currently considered to have been eradicated, those vaccines are no longer required. But, formerly, they were.

What would be the rationale behind NOT requiring immunization against the most transmissible respiratory disease now active in our population? We don't THINK it's that bad? We don't THINK we'll get it? We don't BELIEVE in the disease, the vaccine, the government, the health-care establishment?

Laughable.

I actually go with "If someone asks if you are a God, you say YES!" as the best line of the movie.

I clearly remember the ole Polio vaccination, I was kicking, screaming, and fighting the grips of my mom and two nurses, and I still have the Polio vaccination scare today that proves they won with holding me down to be vaccinated!!!

I gave my arm freely for the covid vaccination without a second thought, or fear of what was in that needle. In other words, I took it like a man, and I'm so glad that I got the vaccination before covid found me!!!

Since you started this topic by interjecting politics into this, I will answer your question this way;
Should Tigers be vaccinated? Guess it depends on which side of the aisle your on.
Of course if you don't want to offend someone ,maybe you should ask;
Should Gamecocks be vaccinated?

Like I said, politics is into everything these days.
I do offend people, but that is seldom my intention.
Sorry if my post ~~?

Here you go --

I also ask, "Should Gamecocks be vaccinated?"

keep in mind I don't know the answer. It is up to each of us to choose.

It is only political because you brought politics into it. While it is true the libs have a higher rate of covid vaccination than Republican areas it is still a personal choice. Since the vaccine protects the person who has received the shot why is there a big push to make people protect themselves? I am a libertarian socially and got the vaccine but don't care if others have it. The risk is on them...

Ehh, my opinion has nothing at all to do with politics nor should anyone else’s. If someone finds themself in that camp they may just be part of the problem.
