Should they have given Streeter a more graceful exit?

Jan 12, 2023, 8:48 PM

Or should he have read the writing on the wall? And saved himself the embarrassment of being fired by trying to find another job?

he should've never been hired to begin with.....

Streeter accomplished enough during 2022 for him to get an assistant coach job at a FBS school.

As noted in the TNet article, our offense’s performance for 2022 was far better than our dismal 2021 numbers.

Also, FWIW (and there is no denying this) DJU’s performance for 2022 was far better than his 2021 performance. Streeter, as QB coach, gets the majority of credit for DJU’s improvement.

In summary, Streeter has some legit positives to put on his resume.

Because it seems they did not, I have the idea this was not a result of lack of offensive production. No idea what else mightve contributed, but summarily firing a guy isn't Dabos style.

I believe he was in the mix for the Liberty HC job but it didn't work out. He would have taken that had it been offered.

Why? It was obvious how much the offense regressed under Streeter. The change had to be made and the real story here is, RUTHLESS Dabo is back.

Screw Calford.

Disagree.

The offense was actually better this year then last year under Elliott. Don’t get me wrong, I believe he should have been let go just saying he actually helped us. Honestly, he should have never been offered the job.

*It could have been because we were healthier this year.

We don't know what happened behind the scenes. Dabo might have offered a different job and Streeter refused. We just don't know.

The sequence right before the half against Tennessee sealed the deal for me with Streeter. Call timeout then have a delay of game because we don't get the play call in. An OC can't brain freeze like that.

Streeter will be fine. He's already made more $ than most of us will make in a lifetime. And someone will hire him again soon.

I have had that task a few times, and trust me, there IS no

really graceful way to fire someone. Because, regardless of the particulars, you are telling someone their services are no longer required due to poor performance. And, that is a slap in the face to anyone who takes any sort of pride in their work. Being told you aren't good enough, and then having your livelihood taken away has to hurt.
