Should Lawrence Played a Little Longer?

Sep 22, 2019, 7:45 AM

Probably get down-voted but I'll offer the observation anyway. I would have liked to have seen TL played at least one or two more series before checking out for a few reasons. By sitting him so early, the Heisman Trophy is pretty much surrendered because the other so-called top QB's are stating in longer stat-packing in games like this.

On the other hand I love seeing 111 players get playing time. That's always a good thing to see and something most other schools don't do.

I think he was pulled about the right time. His chances

for the Heisman are minimal at best for this season. Maybe next season. I would like to have seen the second stringers get more snaps, as they may have to step in at any moment. 4th and 5th string- not so much.

I think he and Dabo got together and decided BEFORE the game

on that strategy. They are sending a clear message that team matters more than a tarnished trophy. ETN didn't get anything like his normal playing time either. Nor Higgins, and Ross was "nicked up" and didn't play a down.

Yes. He needed reps as much as anyone imo. At least to the half.

I agree...I would have like to see him play to the half.

Glad you don't coach. Completely the right move. Long year ahead.

and you’d be fine if he got hurt with 3 mins to go until

half and we were leading by 30 ???

You can’t play with fear of getting hurt but playing or not playing wisely based on the scoreboard is the thing championship seasons are made of.

Brad Brownell: Only Larry freaking Shyatt has a WORSE overall winning percentage among Clemson basketball coaches since 1975. Let that sink in. It's Larry Shyatt & then Brad Brownell.

Dabo had him running Zone reads against GT when we were Up

Setting aside stats...9 pass attempts seems light when he's clearly had some accuracy issues

Can't live in a bubble

No

I like the approach of team development over Heisman.....

Sep 22, 2019, 8:41 AM

Individual honors are nice, but team accomplishments are what the coaching staff should be focused on.

No one cares about the #### Heisman trophy anymore.

If it ever happens for one of our players...cool. But they are not planning their season around it. Much bigger goals.

For those that do not understand how CLEMSON rolls, we play lots of players and spread the wealth to numerous players. It's a TEAM concept, not and "I" concept. CLEMSON will probably never have a Heisman winner while Dabo runs the TEAM. Let the other teams win that insignificant trophy and CLEMSON will continue to excel at being in the CFP each year. I prefer Dabo's way, and have lost respect for the Heisman winners.
