Serious Question: Should I worry about 2018 recruiting?

Nov 29, 2017, 11:58 AM

I know we are ranked #34 on Rivals at the moment with only 11 commits I believe. I know we have studs like TL & XT on board, and I also know we don't recruit as many per year as the SEC because of our high retention rate and good evaluations, however, why is our ranking so low? Are we missing out on guys or do we just not have many spots this year?

Ranking is low because they add up all the stars - schools can get a higher ranking by having more recruits even if most are 3 star.

I am a little nervous about our O line recruiting but trust Dabo and our other coaches. They have proven they can recruit quality and develop players.

I am sure if we miss out on 2018 OL

We will just add more 2019 OL. They have really been after a lot of them.

We have low numbers, check out the depth chart. We are very selective, but will finish strong and are still reigning national champions. So, no.

Rivals class rankings are always kind of weird. They all value class size but Rivals seems to do it more than the others. I think they had the coots with a class rank two spots higher than ours last year which is silly. They seem to do one of the best if not the best with individual player rankings though. Besides most places have the average player rank at like 3 for this class and the total rank will jump once some of the later guys hop on board.

need. Having the right numbers in the right place is the void they can't cover. As Danny Ford said "I'll take a good offensive line over a great QB any day. Bringing in a slew of great RBs doesn't mean much if you can't keep a line full of quality, healthy bodies. And having extra DB's isn't very helpful if you don't have a good kicker or punter. Trust in Dabo & Co. They are proven over the last 5-10 years.

We have three 5 stars and av3 star projected to us, so we are not finished.
