serious question from the desert

Nov 2, 2016, 12:00 AM

looks like a good chance we play out here in playoff game. Do you guys think the attendence from Tiger Nation will be similar to Natty gm last year, or do you think some might hold back and wait for a Tampa trip ? I know it's a long trip out here, but last year was such a good time and a great turnout, I am hoping we can rally again. Thoughts ?

I think it would be a smaller turnout than for the natty personally. I went last year, but do not think I would make the trip out west again this year if that's where we end up. I'll probably hedge my bet and just hope for Tampa. Still holding out for a Bama loss and ending up in ATL so I can make both games. Already pizzed about having to miss the ACC Championship with it being in Orlando rather than Charlotte.

Sadly, if we end up in AZ, I would have to skip it. I don't have enough vacation time for two trips to Florida and one to AZ. Fingers crossed for Atlanta.

I asked this question before...

Nov 2, 2016, 1:59 AM

and I was told that I had my priority backward. They said that I should have put more concentration on the next game. LOL

There is nothing wrong to plan ahead.

Answering your question, I went to Miami and Phoenix last year. I talked to my wife and she agreed that it's somewhat discouraging to go to the same place last year. It's not like going to Atlanta, Miami or anywhere in Florida two years in a row. There is nothing much to do in the desert in winter.

Moreover, even for the Natty last year, a lot of people don't go there because it was too costly for them. Flights were difficult to find. Many had to resort to flying to Vegas, instead of Phoenix, mainly because they couldn't find a flight or they were too costly. That's on top of other expenses. And so, if you happened to look for tickets just before the game (like I did), they were not that expensive. You could get a lowerdeck ticket for $300 or an upperdeck ticket for $200 or under.

Also, going there for the title game is a lot different from going there for semi-final. We were packed in Miami last year because it's not too far from Clemson and a lot of Clemson fans live in Florida. Like the two above answers, many would hope and save it for the Natty.

I would personally consider Arizona

because I absolutely love Arizona, and need an excuse to go out there. However it would be a tough choice. Tampa is close enough that it would only cost me 1 night in a hotel plus gas money, or even take a charter bus down.

I love Arizona too, but not in winter.

Not saying I like to go there in summer either. Sometime in between is better. :)

I think Bama loses 1 and we play in Peach***

Geville Tiger on Clemson football , "Dabo's only problem is he has to deal with turd fans questioning every move he makes.”

Doubtful, but I would consider going. Plane flights to Vegas are cheap.
