Serious Question

Oct 20, 2013, 6:32 PM

im sure ill get blasted by asking this but would you guys rather have the cockiness and swagger that FSU had and always win or have the humbleness and even minded team that we have now? I love what we have now but i wish we had cockiness and swagger. Thoughts?

we win now with the humbleness but lose in big games sometimes. I think the cockiness and swagger affects their performance on the field..if we had some cockiness and swagger we would win some games if that makes sense. Their confidence would be high all the time

okay yeah get rid of the cockiness, but it seems like we have no swagger whatsoever...and i think that hurts us honestly especially in big games

First off you have to have the players to do this, we have some but not enough, we need football players that know how to win right out of highschool, not just this kid runs 4.3 40 but can't catch a cold or this guys 6'4 300lbs but can't get out of his own way,you have got to have gamers not pretenders, coach Ford had gamers.

what i want

Oct 20, 2013, 6:48 PM

-- major swagger but if you get in trouble off the field you'll run stadium steps til you puke and have 7AM study hall otherwise you don't play, period.
-- i want defensive players who celebrate with their teammates after a big hit/play instead of individual celebrations
-- i want players who are good kids but who have a fire and an insane passion about wearing orange and purple to the point that they'll have to be calmed down instead of having deer in the headlights when something goes wrong
-- i want defensive players who'll go up to our QB after a TO and tell him something along the lines of, "don't worry brother, we're about to get you the ball back"
-- i want defensive players who strip the #### ball instead of looking like they're lucky to make a tackle.
-- i want DL men who pin their ears back and impose their will on OL whether they're holding them or not.
-- i want defensive players who take over the game with their personality and fire....who'll punish folks and create turnovers.
-- i want offensive skill players who BLOCK DOWNFIELD like the opposing teams' DB's did something to their mamas.
-- i want players who feel that wearing a Paw on their helmets means something to them personally. Folks that think that being a Clemson Tiger means that you'll die on that field imposing your will on someone.
-- i'm a Marine Corps infantryman. The Army Rangers, Army Special Forces, and some other foreign military units train just as much as we do. What makes Marines different is the fact that we believe we are better. We believe that our balls drag the ground. We want the worst areas to fight in...we want the worst of the worst. We want to go in "hi diddle diddle, straight up the middle" and we'll impose our will on you until you die. The culture that we live in isn't different than the culture of a powerhouse football program. The difference is that you HAVE to have personalities that buy into it. I get that Dabo is a good man...i get that a lot of Clemson folks are good church going people....i get that it's important to a lot of Clemson folks to have players and coaches that talk and act like we do.....But the newsflash is as follows: folks, football is a violent, passionate, nasty game. You have got to have players who play on the edge. You have to have nastiness to win and win big. If you have coaches who curse, so what? If you have players with swagger who walk on the edge, so what? The off the field issues, i GET it. Sit them down and run the hell out of them at practice til they puke. As for the type of passion we need on the staff and players with the position coaches? We need some SOB in a big dose. We need guys who want to take heads off on the field and make the skull and crossbones signal like Bryant and Headen used to do. We need class like THE JUDGE and Dawk who were great kids but they played like somebody said something to their grandma's and they were about to pay the price. We need leadership, period, and Dabo is the coach we need in the HC position but we don't have near enough in the roster who have that type of personality. We need players that say "i'm a Clemson Tiger" and that means something far beyond just the fans. It needs to be something that IS them inside.
