Clemson defeated TROY 30-24 with DW4 under center. Remember the Ray Ray ball drop at the goal line? That same season, Clemson needed an OT missed kick by NC State to secure the win. Also, the loss to Pitt at home was an ugly Tiger defensive meltdown. With all of the ugly football, the season ended with a Natty.
Last night was ugly. Somehow, the team beat the spread and won by 31 points. DJ did improve some and Cade looks to be ready to play when called. I believe that Clemson survived the artificial turf with no injuries. The Tigers were disciplined, in terms of penalties, and I believe had no targeting or pass interference calls. The schedule is favorable with most of the difficult games being played in DV.
The QB situation will have to be settled on the field. The outcome is up to DJ. I honestly do not know if he has the talent to keep the starter’s job. Cade looked very poised last night and needs some series with the ones. Remember TL16 was not ready at Texas A&M. The schedule is setup for Cade to be broken in gradually.
Let’s fill all the seats at DV, cheer on the team, and let the guys settle it on the field. We all should know our starting QB by 10/1 when NC State comes to town. Spot the ball and Go Tigers!

While I think a 41-10 conference opener should be a major plus, certainly not a bad mark, our current schedule pretty much features Notre Dame and possibly a decent Miami. And ND already has a loss. So unless win them all, we are gonna have to win impressive.
2016 we beat a ranked Auburn, #3 Lamar Jackson-led Louisville, a top 10 FSU, top 20 VT in ACCCG. We had a much more highly regarded schedule and easily overcame the close games and the loss to Pitt.

We need to have it settled by NC State, because any team that can hang with East Carolina and pull out a last minute win is a formidable challenge, especially when you have a QB who doesn't understand you need to get rid of the ball in 2.7 seconds or less and a completely unimaginative playcaller when said QB is under center.
Newsflash: If you don't trust your QB with the calls, what does that tell ya?
