Seems like everyone expects to beat UGA.
Jul 26, 2013, 2:45 PM

I have no problem with that and am glad expectations are where they are. But, the fact remains that UGA shredded Bama's defense last year and easily could have been National Champions.
By the same token, if not by heroics from Tajh and Nuk combined with awful play calling by Les Miles, we could've come up just short against LSU.
These are 2 teams who should be dang good this year. I'm glad that everyone seems convinced we should beat UGA, but I see it as a 50/50 game. UGA has an elite offense with a defense, especially secondary, who nobody really knows what to expect... sound familiar?

Now they certainly can win. All they need to do is pop in the USC-Clemson tape and do the same thing. And with that stud OL and RB, they are capable.

Go the FU## away Coot!!!
The teams return the same # of starters BUT Ugay lost WAY MORE on defense than we did. Our losses are more balanced on both sides of the ball.
Offensively we are every bit as talented (collectively) as they are. "experts" on all major sporting sites will verify that.
So...mr DCannon:
Take your closet Coot stupidity BACK to your village. They are missing their favorite idiot.

If I was laying down money today, I would bet on UGA. I tend to turn pessimistic this time of year, anyway. But that offense of theirs, on paper, is flawless.

I hope you are right, but the kind of over-the top optimism I'm hearing, frankly scares me. We have some major question marks at RB and the secondary. UGA will come in here with what many consider the top offense in the country. They shredded Bama"s defense last year and probably should have won that game. Let's let them do the talking, and make our statement on the field

The OP sounds like he was reading my mind. Except - I can't go higher than 49-51 % for us winning.
Seriously - if someone said we could have a 1-point victory in 7 OT's, then I'd take it.
I still contend that the first team to 50 wins it.

I somewhat disagree with your opinion on LSU playcalling
Jul 26, 2013, 4:42 PM
|
|
I thought it was smart to come out throwing, Atleast on first down. Everybody in the country was expecting a run, including our defense. It's not Les Miles' playcall that lost the game, it was the fact his QB couldn't complete a pass to a wide open reciever. Just my opinion though

But 8pm our house and 82,000 crazy a$$ fans. Not to mention all they lost and a D that looks ready to step up and play at the level they should be. And I don't see there D stoping Tajh and Co. It's close till mid 3rd quarter then we blow it out. Tigers by 14.

And unless "Jawja" miraculously replaces 8 starters on Defense, who's to say Clemson's passing game wont be enough to score 35??
A fifth year Senior All American with Sammy, Martavis, Peake, Leggett, Hopper & Humphries against a very young defense!
35 should be the low end Son!
But "thanks for playing"

Like I said if Clemson doesn't have just enough running game to complement their passing game to take pressure off of Boyd, the defense can start teeing off on him because the offensive line can't hold for ever on a pass rush.

I certainly don't expect to beat them...

then again, I don't expect to lose either. I think this game is a great example of a toss- up, but with the Tigers having a few advantages that make me optimistic: it's at home, we've got the more experienced defense, their inexperienced defense is facing our high- powered and experienced offense, and they're missing some key guys on defense.
I'm also not really sure I agree with you about them last year. First of all, Georgia lost to South Carolina by like 40 points. No team involved in the national championship should've taken a shellacking like that. Second of all, it's hard to say that Georgia "shredded Bama's defense" when they barely ran for 100 yards and didn't gain 400 yards total. Georgia's defense, though, did get shredded to the tune of 512 yards which included 350 yards rushing. That's a team that got steam- rolled and was lucky to be in the game.
Another team that was lucky to be in the game was LSU when they played Clemson. Clemson gained 445 yards on LSU, while LSU only gained 219 on Clemson (compare to the 331 yards Bama gained on LSU, while LSU picked up 435 on Bama).
Anyway, I know your point was to say that this is really a toss- up game, and I agree with you there.
