SEC Getting A Pass?

Sep 11, 2022, 1:06 PM

Missouri got taken to the woodshed by Kansas State. But, you won't hear all the dumb conference is weak talk. Why? Because the top of the conference is strong(seemingly).
Texas A&M lost at home to the Sun Belts pre-season #2 team. Instead of saying, the SEC is weak, they will make a thousand excuses and build App St. up(App should be built up i.m.o as they are no ordinary G5 team).
Wake beat Vanderbilt like a drum. People will go - they are the worst SEC team. LOL, funny that any other time people try and make it out like "EACH AND EVERY SEC TEAM IS GREAT"! Guess that's only when it fits the SEC is superior top to bottom argument. Which is my only angle; because you can't dispute the championships. But, going back 22 years do you know what conference is 2nd in NCAAF championships? The ACC with 3 it would be 4 if you include "current ACC team Miami's in 2001"!
The big 10 has 2.(only by Ohio St.).
The Pac 12 has 2 by Southern Cal.
The Big 12 has one each by Texas and Oklahoma(03 and 05).
SEC has the rest in the time period above. So, why all the drama about how weak the ACC is? Maybe we should be saying something about some other conferences and stop laying on so thick about the ACC!

Always, always, always. ESECPN has hitched their wagon to one of the least populated sections of America. They’ve payed billions of dollars to the SEC. That means they need every eyeball in Dixie watching. I would argue that ESECPN could not have made a dumber business plan. Midwest has more eyeballs, Mid-Atlantic has more eyeball, far west has more eyeballs, but whatever, they did what they did, now they gotta sell it. The good news for ESECPN is, they picked the least educated population in America and those dunces will believe whatever lie you tell them. All it takes is repetition.

Oh those ignorant rubes that live in the Southeast and love their football.

Hold on, I’m going to go watch “Pac-12 Shorts.” Those videos are hilarious.

People who make this argument look like someone hammering a square peg in a round hole.

The SEC always gets a pass except in polls. That is why when we go to a 12 team playoff, the SEC will have at least 6 of the 12 teams because of biased preseason polling. Most of the SEC will be ranked preseason.

Why are so many Clemson fans obsessed with the SEC? The SEC teams are and will be strong again this year and there is nothing wrong or unusual about that. Nothing can be made of this season after just 2 weeks so don't spend any time trying to. I wish the ACC teams would improve but to obsess and envy the SEC just gets you nowhere. Until the final poll in January has a conference with more teams than the SEC they will be the best. Wins have to happen on the field.

SEC teams with a losing record are never mentioned. The instant an SEC has a winning record they become PROOF of the SEC’s brutal schedule.
Tennessee has been nobody for 20 years…..this morning they are PROOF.

Exactly Gumby!

The old, "having it both ways".

And, in no way shape or form do I care or am obsessed with the SEC perse. I do find it funny that talking CFB heads can throw data around when it supports the SEC; but not when it is putting it in a more "humble place"!
It's all about the money; I get it. Just say that though. Say that the schools with the most passionate fans who spend money on their teams and watch their teams more importantly to marketing firms - get the benefit of the doubt.
MOre to the point i'm trying to make is: "clearly every team in the SEC isn't a gauntlet or even tough"! Yet, by the time folks hear the person on tv or the internet talk about the SEC a bunch of the people who are easily influenced "believe what they are fed hook line and sinker"!

I was thinking the same thing. We seemed obsessed with trying to downplay the strength of the SEC, like we have an inferiority complex or something.
On the other hand, is the SEC worried about the ACC...do they even know or care that the ACC even exists?

No one suggests every SEC team is great. The argument is its the best from top to bottom. No one pumps Vandy. What do championships won 22 years ago have to do with conference strength today? The fact that you had to go back 22 years to make your point makes the counter point.

The SEC has had 3 different National Champions over a 4 years span. No other conference can say that!

Heard a Shamecock fan talking about them having to go to Arkansas and Clemson playing Furman as if to say, "see look at the gauntlet".
I was like, yeah but you also get to play Vanderbilt and Missouri. TN might be decent. Georgia is good. Florida is better than average. Kentucky is perhaps the 2nd best team in the East. "Kentucky"!

So, please, Shamecock fans! You fit more into the category with Missouri and Vanderbilt!

It will be a race to the bottom among these three.
