Why does anyone care that we've got guards transferring out when we are that awful offensively?

Doesn’t matter. If you score one more than the opponent.. you win every game!

Yeah not much positive spin on that stat. It is what it is. Our offense plain sucks!

Virginia was 251.
I guess you don't want to point out that Clemson was 12th in defense.

Context matters even though most of you bozos look at everything back and white.
We slow things down and limit possession. We are never going to be a high scoring team with brownell’s style. That is a fact.
That being said, offense definitely needs to improve and it should next year.
Also it’s funny that you complain about our offense but you also complaining that 2 offensively challenged guards are transferring.
Trapp was our 3rd highest scoring guard despite getting the most minutes
Newman averaged 3.7 points a game.

The spin machine lately has been out of control. These "fans" go to great lengths to paint Clemson basketball in the worst light, ignoring the many positives along the way.

We were about 200 in efficiency/ppp. Which was up compared to last year and even our points per possession were up in our last three games compared to our season norm.
We were 10th in the nation for opponent points per game. 35th in opponent efficiency.
We would score 0.97 points per possession, our opponents would only score 0.93.
Again, the point of the game is to score more than the other guys. You can do that with defense.
The average number of possessions is about 70 per game. Realistically, you have 50-60 shooting possessions per game. Thus we were scoring about 68 points and our opponents were scoring about 65. Iw ill take that. However, we have to win the turnover matchup and we generally did but a few turnovers would swing things into a close win for them or a moderate blowout in our favor. Unless you had GT shooting 60%+ from the arc - no defense can defend against that.

Yep I’ll bet you really enjoyed the pre shot clock era when ole Dean Smith would get a 4 point lead in the first half and run the 4 corners the rest of the time. Exciting stuff!

Actually, yes. We didn't see is as much because ol'Dean did not have to stall to nurse a win over us back then. Smith could easily run over 100 points (and did) on many occasions. Heck it was a good showing some years if we could keep them under 75. Sure we knocked them off every so often but still, it was more likely not to be close. So if Smith had to use the for corner stall, we were actually in a game!
Offense is all about efficiency. Higher-pace coaches like Roy also played the game too. If you have 1.05+ offensive minded team, then you want to push pace. That will make games again other teams less competitive. You don't want some 0.97-1.00 lurking late in the game. So if you can push 80 possession at 1.05 clip (which is normally top 75ish or so), then you are looking at an 84-77 game against a team as efficient as ours. However, if you slow down the pace. Say 60 possessions, then it becomes a 63-58 game. There is a big difference between a 2 possession game and a 3 possession game because then you start having single possession late-game coaching options. Now, instead of overall efficiency you can play the % options. If you are a good defensive team, you late game capacity to hold an opponent to 0 point becomes higher and more effective. Still, it varies from game to game and other factors but if you have a high efficiency offense, you want to push pace as fast as possible. If you are not high efficiency, you want to slow the game down. If average, often slower is better. If you are super-high efficiency, you can even play UVA style and crush a lot of folks. UVA is often and quietly one of the most efficient teams and you would not know that based on overall scoring patterns.
