Say DJ stays on his current path, we win ACC and lose first

Oct 17, 2022, 1:08 PM

round against a UGA or Ohio State in a good game...... Do you think DJ stays or leaves for NFL ?
I think he will have a tough choice to make....if he stays he could make himself a 1st rounder....if he goes, I am not sure if he is a 1st or 2nd ?

Dabo already said he's graduating this semester.

That has nothing to do with returning to play football if he

wants to or not.

Like you know what that means. LOL

I think he leaves after this year. There will be 2 five start QB's behind him next year. That's a lot of pressure.

Depends on whether he wants to finish the transformation from a Pro Style QB to a Dual Threat or not.

If this cat was able to carry his weight (know he has lost some weight) a little better he could be extremely extremely dangerous.

He reminds me of a diesel truck big but really takes a few miles before it fully gets up to steam.

This is only what I have visually seen with my own eyes and yes 100% I was a DJ naysayer but am extremely impressed with the improvements this year.

He's a third round QB at this point.

look at where QBs went last year, coupled with the QB talent that will be drafted ahead of him (Stroud, Yound, Levis)

You also have to look at who/how many will need QBs this draft and where they are likely to end up picking.

I currently see him as a backup in the NFL (at least for a few seasons) so I will cap his ceiling at 2nd or 3rd round for the moment.

If he trends up toward the end of the season that could change a little, but I don't see 1st rounder for him this season.

You have no idea what you’re talking about. He will be the first QB taken or at worst 1st round.

Coming back to improve the draft stock does not always work. TB stayed giving up a 3-4 round grade only to slip further his senior year.

My guess is if he gets a 1-3 round grade he is gone as that has always been his plan. Truthfully I cant blame him as we lose some pieces on D after this year so next year might not be at the very top of the CFB world which could in fact hurt his stock

It may depend on NIL.

How much does a second round guy make in the NFL? What is he is projected to be 3rd round?

How much can he make in NIL. Some FSU fans are saying Jordan Travis could make 500K+ in NIL if he returns. I imagine DJ would make even more.

500K and stay at Clemson or be a 2nd round pick in the NFL. Tough choice.

If he continues to play at this level, I think he

has a chance to be a late first rounder and definitely 3rd round or earlier. His inconsistent accuracy underneath is still the biggest question mark, but he throws a great deep ball. I think you make a good point about his transformation to dual threat. There is no way he will be dual threat in the NFL where defensive speed goes to another level.

Besides his physical tools (durable big body, sneaky athleticism and arm talent), I think how he handled all the criticism/adversity over the last year and his ability to take that as fuel to improve himself will resonate with some in the NFL.

QB drafts are almost always a crap shoot. If he keeps playing well this year, I think some team will take a chance on DJ, making him a late 1st or 2nd rounder.

BTW... I too gave up (or came very close) on DJ. His improvement has been extremely impressive and by all accounts well deserved.

I honesty see DJ as a better NFL QB. Reminds me of a more mobile Big Ben. Give the guy a good line and I believe the defense would be in trouble.
