Saturday will be a big test for DJ

Not that BC is a defensive powerhouse, but in the last two games Wake and NC State played with a lot of 3 man fronts. On pass plays we were often blocking only 3. Without little to no pressure, DJ stuck in the pocket and had tons of time to survey the field. Eventually someone will get open, and DJ has done a good job of hanging in and finding that guy.
I think BC will play a 4-man front and bring blitzes to pressure DJ to make quicker decisions.
His confidence has been growing, obviously, but Saturday will be another step to see how he's progressed.

I think it's more likely we give them a heavy dose of our run game including DJ. That should make them respect the passing game and relieve some of that pressure.

That is what I predict will happen in this game. This may be Mr. Shipleys best game yet. The emergence of the tight ends has helped this team considerably. BC in rarely a pushover and they will hang with the Tigers ... for a while.imo

consistent rushing attack at this point, at 51st in the country.
I'd love to be able to line up and smash those big dudes, but I'm thinking we're going to need good balance. I honestly don't know if we'll be able to just line up and run to win this game.
I believe they'll stack the front to stop the run and dare us to throw. From there they'll try to dial up pressure to force DJ into proving he can beat the pressure and make reads under duress.

They give up way more pass yards than run so we will throw.

than passing yards? Of course BC gives up more passing yards than rushing yards, just like every team in football.
BC has given up 772 yards rushing (41%) and 1,094 yards passing (59%). Do you think that's an abnormal balance?

throws to tight ends and the running back (safety valve). DJ has repeatedly had Shipley, Pace, and Mafah open in the flats and has kept looking downfield. I don't mind the downfield looks, but if its not there, wing it to the running back... big yardage there!

This sounds like something our staff will do.
We have two really good TE's and another who is coming on.
We have 3 outstanding RB's.
I didn't really see CB's for BC that scare me though; when we do take shots. Max Protect and take some shots to Randall, Ngata, Collins and let them work or get a D.P.I.
