They are currently 5 spots ahead of Clemson per Rivals. Oklahoma lost their entire staff and is at #14. Clemson is behind USuc, Boston College, and Mizzou. The dumpster fire at FSU is #10 and UNC is #8. Let those numbers sink in. Whatever message were selling didn't resonate very well this year.

There's always a few that don't understand how recruiting rankings work. You say Clemson is behind teams like South Carolina and Boston College, but ignore it's simply due to the amount of players signed and not due to the quality of players.

Just going off of Rivals since that's what you used, South Carolina has 21 overall commits with no 5 stars and four 3 stars. Boston College has 22 commits with no 5 stars and three 3 stars. Clemson has 13 commits with one 5 star and eight 4 stars. Clemson could've easily filled up another 7 or 8 spots with 3 star guys if they simply wanted to be higher in the recruiting rankings. To give you an idea of where that would put Clemson, FSU is sitting at #10 with 17 commits, one 5 star, and eight 4 stars. So all Clemson would need to do is add an additional four 3 star guys and they'd jump up to #10 in the rankings. Would that make you feel that much better about this class?

Yes, I do actually know how the numbers work. Been following recruiting since the early 80's when you had to buy paper copy subscriptions or a pay a fee to call Micky's hotline to get the latest and most up to date (I think he lived with his parents back then). So when we have a top 5 class we shout it from the top of the mountain and it's cause for huge celebration. When we are ranked this low it's not important. We are woefully short on numbers and that's the bottom line. Yes, we may add some three stars at a later date or we may have a combination of a few more 3 stars, some portal activity, and walk on players granted scholarships to hit 85. Best is the standard but we have been lapped by the top programs like UGA that were nearly full a month ago. Spin it any way you like or find a data point in space to compare it against. We did not get the number of commitments that we need for whatever reason.

Go back and look at the 2017 class. A championship team was built off a class ranked #22 + TL the following year. Tee, ETN, AJ, Amari,Bock.

Don't worry about the numbers coming in, worry about the numbers at the end.

Maryland wasn't bad before 2013. Then they cooted and accepted the B10 pay for their deviant submissive acts.

Otherwise, Maryland is an all-around better program. More wins, more conference0 title, a more recent title than Texas AM, more bowls.
