stories in the last couple of years and the final score is not mentioned at all. Also, I don't think I ever had a complaint for not giving the score enough when doing play-by-play.

Show me this rule in the sportswriters style book.

Doesn't make sense now anyway with clicks / time on site / etc being monetized.
