I dont blame this on California. I blame this on congress. Mark Emmert in 2020 went to congress wanting to create a national NIL law so everyone is on an equal playing field with restrictions. Congress said no and now we have pay for play.

Blame it on the Power 5 conferences

Don't bother blaming the NCAA for much of anything. It's a fairly toothless front organization that does little more than what the Power 5 tell it to do. It's designed to take the blame for everything wrong with college sports while shielding the real decision makers (the 5 conferences).

Congress is toxic and there are plenty of more pressing matters for them to address. Creating a framework for collegiate athletics is a giant undertaking they don't have the patience to attempt.

The Power 5 made the monstrous system that exists today. The NCAA is a front that shields them from most criticism.

All about that dollar. I work for a communications company and people ##### because of tv prices. I just tell them to thank the the SEC. ESPN just keeps raising their prices. We in turn pass it along to the consumer. What we going to do discontinue ESPN? Cannot remember right off what they are charging per subscriber but it’s way more than any other channel package.

The way things have gotten so out of hand in this world and in college sports...Can some of us old people get together and sue somebody, anybody.. for us not having the opportunity to get paid to play sports. I mean why not...
