R.I.P. Adrian Dingle

Nov 9, 2022, 8:12 PM

Adrian Kennell Dingle (June 25, 1977 – November 8, 2022) was an American football defensive tackle in the National Football League. He played five seasons for the San Diego Chargers (2000–2005).

Dingle went to Roberts high school in Holly Hill, South Carolina. He then attended Clemson University, where he broke the single-season sacks record with 10.5 in his senior year. His 23 career sacks ranks third best in school history and is sixth all-time with 45 tackles for loss.[1] Dingle drafted in the fifth round of the 1999 NFL Draft. Dingle missed the entire 1999 season due to injury. He started 15 out of 16 games during the 2003 season, making 37 tackles and six sacks. He finished his career with 78 tackles, 14.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and one interception. He was the cousin of former Dallas Cowboys defensive end Vontrell Jamison.

Dingle died in Holly Hill, South Carolina on November 8, 2022, at the age of 45

Knew Dingle in school. Great guy.

Anybody know if he had been sick or something?

Very sad news.

Re: R.I.P. Adrian Dingle ... this really bothers me

This may sound racist, but I am deeply troubled by the high death rate of blacks starting in their mid-40s and accelerating by their late 50s.

This just doesn't happen (with nearly the same frequency) to white people.

(I'm not talking about substance abusers or those who get murdered / killed in accidents. I'm talking about deaths from so-called natural causes.)

Very recently, three of my former HS basketball teammates died. All three were 58 years old. All three lived normal lives, had normal jobs (i.e., not some CIA under-cover-in-Afghanistan jobs), no substance abuse. Really good guys, none were hot tempered or angry personalities. Just s ucks.

Now this sad news about Adrian Dingle. 45 years old.

(*) I sure wish that we could encourage EVERYONE (Arab-Americans, East Asians, South Asians, Latinos, blacks, whites, native Americans) to see a doctor every year to get a physical. I suspect that doing so would save a bunch of lives (and again, please forgive me for sounding racist); I also suspect that it would disproportionately save the lives of middle age blacks.

Rant over. RIP Adrian Dingle.

Sometimes peole get worked up if anything implies weakness or something like that with the 'minority' folks.

Thankful that you see the problem for what it is and aren't looking for 'code words' that imply racism.
