“He had his reasons for doing what he did. Please don’t judge him.”

May 28, 2022, 10:20 AM

The gunman’s mother cannot possibly be of sound mind. I pity her and I pray God’s will be done even in her “as it is in heaven.” The righteous plea should be for evil to be either prevented, corrected, or extinguished. Period.

We as a nation have a serious problem understanding the role of the state versus the role of the individual. Her statements seem to be, at best, ignorant of the fact that it is ABSOLUTELY the role of the state to “judge” her son’s actions, as well as any sincere attempt by anyone to commit similar atrocities.

“Provid[ing] for the common defense” and “promot[ing] the general welfare” and “secur[ing] the blessing of liberty” are to be conducted by the state by bearing the sword against those who would threaten these ideals. We now know this role was sorely abdicated by law enforcement personnel in Uvalde, who exchanged their solemn pledge to bear that sword against “all enemies foreign and domestic” for a pearl-clutching, fear-driven self preservation, which is somewhat the expectation of vulnerable individuals, but never their sworn protectors.

Individual liberty is such a fragile thing, and we have now so gravely damaged the rightful role of the state in securing it for “ourselves and our posterity” that we should EXPECT to watch it erode by degrees right before our eyes, regardless of partisan politics. We can no longer collectively stomach the notion that swift, lethal force needs to be imminently ready to eliminate threats, and the most vulnerable of society are paying the greatest price as a result.

Abandonment of absolute truth and its implications for authority structures has made our entire culture a “don’t judge” millieu of victim classes hoping to protect themselves at all costs - ironically, it only further victimizes the weakest among us.

Praying God’s mercy on our nation this weekend as we remember those who gave themselves up for her.

Perhaps taken out of context. I think she’s winking at him having been “troubled” to put it gently. He didn’t even live with her.

I can’t not judge him, though. That’s just a fact of the matter and I don’t feel poorly about that.

He had only been with his Gma for a few months. I am not sure where he was before that.

I’ll judge her sorry ### parenting (she is a drug addict and failed at her one job) She’s clearly clueless. And I’ll judge her psychopath son. He’s been judged and is burning for it right now.

She needs to shut up and stay away from the cameras.

Or he is just dead and nothing is happening to him other than that, yet he destroyed 100's of lives before he went. I agree his mother just needs stay away from the cams. Her comments probably angered a lot of families and friends of the victims.

Respectfully, if there is no ultimate Authority to whom we must account,

then individuals or groups of individuals become their own relative authority.

Thus, “he had his reasons,” and we shouldn’t be able to “judge him” since he made his own truth and acted according to it.

We should weigh the merits of particular things in view of universal things, not the other way around.

There likely is no ultimate authority past the authority here on Earth. If there is, nobody alive on Earth really knows about it in all reality. Anyway, if one wants to ruin his or her life here on Earth in the time you're alive than you can. They are probably ruining there on chance, because there are no do overs. I prefer to live and enjoy this time while I have it and not be dead or in jail. I enjoy my dog and mt family and friends. I enjoy nature and and college sports. I like to travel. Jail or death sound worse. That's why we have penalties and laws here on Earth now so people do have consequences and rational people will pick the better option.

I gave to a tu though, because we all have different views. Mine is more likely to be the case though, but who really knows,

Never the less ….. it really isn’t a good idea to sell a troubled KID an assault rifle and hundreds of ammo! We all need an assault rifle … right?????

I always thought it was humerus when I saw a bumper sticker that said Charleston Heston is my president. It really isn’t funny any more. Assault weapons should be banned forever. Let’s see how many TDS I can get for this TRUTHFUL post.

I respect you opinion but I disagree with passing more gun laws. It is our moral compass that need adjustment. I’m the 1800’s there mass murders with axes and hatchets but we did not ban those items. Banning guns is not going to stop the type of events. He could just as easily used a machete to kill many people. I would support raising the age to 21 before you can by a firearm. Banning guns is not working. We have many gun laws but they have not stopped mass shootings.

Parents should be held more accountable and kids like this had he not been killed should have received the death penalty. Those who get life without parole have nothing to lose by committing murders in prison or they can order people killed.

I pray for the victims and their families. Unless we become a nation of Godly people and stop the greed that has seized this world expect another event like this. And yes I pray for this kid’s mother. It’s too late for the kid.

I am in favor of arming teachers and administrators who have experience with firearms. Each year they should be required to attend firearm training.

Most important, we must stop these race wars and stop encouraging a society of Hate! It starts at home with responsibility by parents and their kids. Accept responsibility instead of making excuses for your actions.

Be specific. “Assault weapon” is a catchphrase…what, specifically, should be banned?

I believe if anti gun folks had their way they would like all guns banned. Then they believe it would stop these mass shootings. Ot would give the government more control over society and may take away more American Freedoms.

The bad guys will always be able to get a firearm. It will hurt law abiding citizens.

If they can’t get guns they would find something else to use if they want to kill somebody. An axe was a favorite weapon used in the 1800’s for murder. I have not seen an laws limiting the availability of axes or hatchet!!!
