All the bellyaching about people reselling tickets for a profit is unbelievable! I got my tickets through IPTAY and I don't plan on selling them but I don't fault anyone who does and I certainly don't feel sorry for anyone who can't buy tickets at a low price.
Other than Dabo the reason that Clemson is now an elite program is because of IPTAY and the contributions of its donors which have helped build the shiny new facilities which help bring in these elite recruits. Anyone who is even a small donor to IPTAY had the opportunity to purchase tickets to the Natty at face value so those that didn't either didn't think ahead or just don't support the organization which has been one of the biggest factors in making this program elite. Either way I don't feel sorry for you. If those who do support IPTAY want to use that support for their own financial gain that's called capitalism. If ticket prices plummeted like they did last year in Glendale, they might have been taking a bath on their tickets but I'm sure we wouldn't hear anyone on here feeling sorry for them. That's the risk they took and they have earned the reward. Don't claim they're not true Clemson fans because they won't subsidize the tickets of those so-called true fans who don't care enough about the program to contribute to IPTAY, the organization which has had so much to do with Clemson's recent success. My $.02
Saying that the only reason the Clemson football program is any good is only because of IPTAY? That's the most ridiculous statement Ive ever heard of. After all the work that Dabo and staff and players have done, I would call that an insult. Think before you post.
Your red herring response probably doesn't merit a response since you either didn't read my post or you didn't understand it. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you didn't read it since you clearly missed the fact that I specifically called out Dabo as the biggest contributor to the program's success and its his personality and the culture he developed with the help of his coaching staff and the players who believed in all that he was preaching who are far and away the biggest reason for Clemson's recent success. But the point of my post is that the biggest and most impactful thing that we as fans can do to support this program is to donate to IPTAY, understanding that some can give a lot and some can only give a little. But at the end of the day those that didn't contribute shouldn't sit back and whine that those that did and say that they're not "real" fans because they aren't selling their tickets at less than market value to those that didn't.
I would just like to add my $0.02. I am a current student and they offered us the opportunity to apply for the lottery for tickets. They had 500 tickets available for students which happen to be the ones paid for by Tacobell. So in essence Clemson put 0 tickets aside for students. They charged us face value of the tickets to even apply for the lottery we had to pay $550 (which is refundable as long as you lost the lottery or picked up your ticket) and had 3400 students apply. I think that it is ridiculous for our university to have no tickets available for students to purchase. I understand that many of y'all have been paying for IPTAY for years however we are the future. I have had IPTAY every year I have been at Clemson yet all it had done for me is allow me to get tickets earlier in the week. I think with the demand from students they should have set some aside as 3400 students were willing to pay full price for a chance to get a ticket.
The dang bowl gives the participating schools a bigger allotment - heck they held back like 35000 to sell in open market. I can see maybe 5-10k for the sponsor and give the schools 30k ea. Students get discounted tickets but have to show ID.
