Feaster is officially in the transfer portal

Apr 24, 2019, 5:53 PM

Spoke with a family member who said he doesn't know where Feaster is headed, but definitely wants to see what opportunities are out there

Random, but I would bet this is the end of the Legends jerseys, i.e. #28 Spiller.

I feel he would get as many touches at Clemson as he would anywhere else. Unless he finds a school that utilizes 1 RB somehow.
Also would probably have a weaker OL to block for him most likely. I’m not in his shoes so I don’t see it like he does. Wish him well !

Garnetisugly Good Points. If in his mind, he goes somewhere else and "STARS" it could easily be hampered by: bad play calling, less talented OL, conservative play calling, etc. A school that has good in those areas likely has a bell cow RB who, "knows the system better at this point"!
He is taking a gamble I wish he wouldn't take. But, I understand the lure of stardom. Again, I see his tangible abilities as 1st rate NFL (luxury pick status). He will get a good look; I have no doubt. His combine numbers alone will get him that.

He averaged 5 carries per game last year compared to 14 by ETN. Yes we rotate our backs, but ETN is our clear #1 guy.

May have been told that he will share carries with 3,4,5. Not clear #2 or maybe 2a or 2b with Dixon. Lets face it he and ETN will be gone and we have Dixon and the true freshmen next year. Got to get them a lot of experience this year. Hate to see him go but it is just that type of situation. Hope he does well and makes the NFL.

He will Make the NFL

Apr 24, 2019, 6:18 PM

Mark it. He will make an NFL roster. Too good of an overall athlete not to. If he is willing to play teams he will make some team happy for years.
Feaster would have to be in the right system to be a star at the next level though. His ability to pass pro(which he worked his butt off on since coming to CU) and his ability to catch the football are in demand in the NFL.

I wish him nothing but the best of luck! Hope he stays; we need the experience in the room. We would lose a ton of experience with him leaving.

Will hurt our depth.

I really like Lyn-J Dixon - frankly, he's a better rusher than Feaster, though Feaster was also the best of the backs (by a lot) at catching out of the backfield, and if he sticks in the NFL, it's likely to be as a third-down back.

Clemson will still be lethal at 1-2 with Etienne and Lyn-J, but that likely does mean a lot of carries for Darrien Rencher...be interesting to see if he can really get it done as our #3. You have to have at least three functional RB's in the stable.

After that...yeesh.

I really, really like what I saw of incoming frosh Chez Mellusi on film - he reminds me so much of Wayne Gallman it isn't funny. Taller, leaner RB, accelerates 0-60 in about three steps, has that same upright running style and the same knifelike north-south acceleration through the hole...he sticks his foot in the ground and he goes. The problem is the same problem as Gallman, actually...Mellusi is converting from a Wing-T and is going to have a very steep learning curve adjusting to Clemson's run game, and even more so with blitz pickups and pass protection. In an ideal world you'd redshirt him like we did with Gallman but I don't know if that's on the table anymore since he may have to play if Rencher can't make an impact as the third back in the stable.

what about Dukes***

Rencher looks Good.

Apr 24, 2019, 6:37 PM

Rencher looks really good. I think we got another steal with that kid. The best part is he won't have to carry the load as a true freshman.

What school/team gives a RB 20-25 carries a game? Wisconsin? I mean, do something with it when you get an opportunity. We all saw what Lynn J could bring in his limited opportunities; which is why we all know we have a really good back backing Etienne. He took advantage of his opportunities and made explosive plays! Feaster is good on most teams and will make the NFL as a 3rd down back and special teams player! Maybe a pass pro back as he has really stepped that part of his game up.

I’m not saying this as a knock on Feaster, but why do people keep saying he’s improved so much in the passing game? I’m not saying he isn’t capable there, but we really haven’t used him enough there to know. He had 11 catches last year for 71 yards.

Because he made that one good catch and run in the championship game. Everyone always remembers what they saw last.

Wish him well and hate the injuries he had leading up to arriving at Clemson. Would like to have seen a healthy (mind and body) TF.

Rencher is a former walk-on from TL Hannah. He's a redshirt junior. He's looked fair-to-decent in limited opportunities, certainly looks like he's worth the scholie. Is he good enough for extended time?

Dunno. Guess we'll see.

Mellusi and Dukes are the incoming froshes. Mellusi I like a lot; Dukes was a very late addition to the 2019 class from Charleston and I know absolutely nothing about him.
