We were constantly lectured not to hate Muslims. It's not all Muslims who are evil, just these particular extremists.

Obviously, this is true. Collectivism is idiocy, you can't punish an individual because other individuals with the same race/religion/etc did bad things. Obviously.

Where is this with Russia? They are cancelling old cartoons and stories written about Russians. Russians who have nothing to do with the government or Putin are being punished and discriminated against. Where are all the do-gooders who stand against bigotry now?

Yeah, because the two things the OP is comparing are exactly the same, right?

On one hand you had terrorist who weren’t leaders of any country and asking people not to discriminate against all Muslims simply because these terrorist shared a religion and skin color with them.

On the other hand you have sanctions against the leader of a country meant to put pressure on him in order to stop him from killing thousands of people.

I’d very well imagine if you had Americans harassing Russian born people living in the United States that you’d see people speaking out against it.

I’m not even sure what cartoons and stories the OP is talking about being canceled.
