Recruiting This Week Pt. 3

May 28, 2021, 7:02 PM

Final update of the week and we have some quick hitters to get you through the weekend. Remember that recruiting visits open up next week, and if you have read my updates you are well aware of that and aware of who will be visiting.

-A couple of names to add to the ever growing list of players.

-5* DE out of Tacoma Washington Jayden Wayne will be camping at Clemson in June. I can tell you that Clemson seems to be the Southern school that is impacting Wayne the most at this point. Oregon is pushing really hard here and I would paint them as the leader in the very early stages of this recruitment due to proximity.

-Another big time D-Lineman will be camping in June DE Matayo Uiagalelei will be at Clemson in the first week of June. I have already told y'all that he is coming now we just know the general timeline, I have heard the dates are June 4-5th but nothing official, he would also like to visit Alabama while he is here, and he also may make a trip to UGA. Also wants to see OSU and USC some time later in June.

-Also camping will be top 30 DE out of Alabama Kelby Collins. That date will be June 5th. The two local schools, Bama and Auburn, will get visits as will UGA and Florida.

-Also add top 100 DE Zavion Hardy who will be at Clemson on June 1st. FSU will get a visit and his "dream school" UGA will also get a visit the day after Clemson, keep in mind that those words are almost meaningless in recruiting.

-Next week will also mark the time that class of 23" offers will de given out to those select few who Clemson view as elite, remember that Clemson waits way longer to offer than any other school. Here is who I would expect to get offers, it may not be on June 1st immediately as some of these guys will camp and Clemson could offer then, but....these would be my bets.

-DE Lebbeus Overton (I would offer him first and let him know that he was the first offer, kid is special)

-DT Peter Woods

-QB Arch Manning

-OT Kadyn Proctor

-OT Payton Kirkland

--CB Tony Mitchell

- DE Matayo Uiagalelei

- DE Malik Bryant

- DE Jayden Wayne

-S Caleb Downs

-S Michael Daugerty

-DE Derrick LeBlanc

-WR Nathaniel Joesoph

-WR Noah Rodgers

-DE Kelby Collins

-TE target Jaleel Skinner announced that he will be taking official visits to Florida and Miami in June, and FSU unofficially. No Clemson visit yet, but I would still say FSU is the lead competition.

-Here is what I said in reply to a question about a couple of crystal balls for WR target Brenen Thompson:

I am sure you are aware Thompson is Clemson's lone offer at WR and has been for months. While Thompson is very high on Clemson they are going to have to overcome the distance issue that places like Texas and OKState do not. He has no visits scheduled to Clemson in the Summer, but I believe he will be at Texas and OkState, but I am unsure if that is official or unofficial. He has been working with the coaches to schedule an official visit in the Fall, while he may commit in the Summer to one of the local schools, Clemson and Alabama will still most likely draw officials in the Fall that could sway him. I can tell you that Cade has been working pretty hard on him this whole time, his issue is going to be distance from mom. Clemson is in this for the long game, and I am sure that has not changed.

-I have spoken about two guys camping that have a real chance at earning an offer. Greene Jr. who I said will be on campus on June 10th and in-state guy Antonio Williams who will be here on June 6th. Let me say these are not fall back guys either, Greene Jr. has the chance to be the best WR Clemson have signed since Tee Higgins IMO, Covid has limited his exposure and hurt his ranking, he is just an alpha dog. Williams is like a Swiss army knife he is very versatile, great route runner with short area quickness. Both are Clemson worthy guys and top 100 guys IMO. From what I have collected both guys have almost been begging for an offer and if one were to come it would be very difficult to turn down. I would put odds in that at least one, if not both, will get offers. We will just have to see what happens when they get a chance to workout in front of the staff.

-Big soccer match tomorrow as Man City and Chelsea play for the Champions League Final. As a City, fan got to go 2-1 City, any soccer fans love to hear your score predictions.

-Have a great weekend Tigernation!!!

Thanks for the update, great way to end the week. I notice you only listed Arch Manning as the lone QB offered. How many QB's do you think we'll sign in 2023? I know the baseball draft may affect it.

These are potential offers.

I am not sure about the exact number, remember even if Will Taylor enrolls he will transition into a WR.

I listed Arch just because it feels like Nelson is going to OU and Clemson likes those two the best so far, but that could change after camps, there will also be over a dozen QB campers who could also earn an offer out of those I would say Nicholaus Iamaleava , Dante Moore, and Dylan Lonergan would have the best chance.

Yes, I know we hope Will Taylor will be the next Renfrow. It does sound like we have several very good QB's camping in June. As always thanks for your informative updates. Enjoy your Memorial Day weekend!

Do you know anything about Arik Gilbert? He’s kind of a head case right now but I heard he was interested in us back in January. I really don’t want him to transfer to UGA because he will be a problem for us week 1. I’d really like Dabo to consider this guy.

Let's get this out of the way Clemson is not involved with him.

-Gilbert was having academic issues as LSU, he is now in classes and should be able to play this Fall, but his options academically are limited. He committed to Florida in portal and then backed out and I have heard that they are no longer in play.

-I have checked in on this just because it is so interesting, it sounds like LSU or Georgia, like you said, but I do not know at this point, it may just depend where he can play academically.

Awesome update. Not sure if I missed it, but where do we stand with Overton?

Overton should be in Clemson some time in July. He has relationships at Texas A&M, Alabama, and Oklahoma through his parents. However, he has stated that Clemson was one of his favorite schools since he was able to visit in 2019, IMO this will wind up Clemson, Bama, and UGA but it is still early.
