Recruiting This Week Pt. 2: CAMP Update

Jun 2, 2021, 7:51 AM

Today marks the first day of the Dabo Swinney Camp and with that prospects will now be able to work out in front of the coaches. This also happens to be one of the larger days with regard to number of visitors, let us look at who was offered, but first an Arch Manning update as well as an update on LB recruiting. I told y'all that the updates would be getting juicer, and this one is slammed pack of info, so let's get started!!

I promised in the comments of my post on Monday that I would have an Arch Manning update. There have been a lot of false dates published around the internet with regard to when he would visit Clemson, a lot of that stems from his father giving a different date in an interview. However, Arch is expected to be in Clemson this weekend. Remember that he will be accompanied by his brother who is a center for the class of 24’. I will have more information as we get closer to the weekend visit; however, let us say that Clemson is in this recruitment as much as any any team. Bama and Clemson seem to have separated themselves going into these visits. No where near a done deal, but definitely something to watch, and we will have to see how well the visit goes. I know everyone references LSU or Ole Miss but besides the two mentioned, keep an eye on Texas as well. However, you get a feeling it is a match between Manning and Clemson, don't you? Like I said not trying to get your hopes up because there is still a long way to go.

-On my Monday update I told y’all that Clemson would be looking at three LB to fill the spot for this class. I also mentioned that all three targets would be in town this week. As I told y’all he would, Jaren Kanak was able to snag an offer last night. Another guy that I said would be arriving later in the week, decided to move his visit up to yesterday in Demario Tolan. He was also able to grab an offer from Clemson last night. Tolan still has visits planned to Tenn, Auburn, LSU, and Miami, my sentiment is Miami is the greatest threat based on what I have heard. While UGA, Florida, and FSU may be able to snag unofficial visits. Tolan will be in town for a few more days, and I believe he is set to workout today, we will see if that changes now that he has an offer. Then you have Kanak. I brought him to y’all’s attention over a month ago as a guy who was going to get a look from the staff because of track times he posted at a recent event. I still believe that Clemson leads here, but recent attention from the likes of Michigan and Alabama, official there June 19th, may prevent the commitment upon offer that I predicted. That just leaves Mauldin’s Deuce Caldwell. Caldwell was at Clemson today, but will return Thursday to workout, he was not offered. IMO Tolan and Kanak are better prospects, but we will see. Caldwell has an official to UNC on June 15th. Whether Caldwell gets an offer or not, Clemson only has one spot available for LB this year. Unless Clemson projects one of the three as a safety or they change course and take 2 LB, highly unlikely, this would be a first commit-first serve deal.

Yesterday’s offers, all were on defense.

Denotes their Top 247 ranking.

#1 1 Lebbeus Overton DE Ga: He will visit Georgia on June 2, Alabama on June 5, Oklahoma on June 19 and Texas A&M on June 21. After that he will come to Clemson some time in July, you know, to eat some hamburgers :), he has already been to Clemson his freshman year. He has connections everywhere as his father has worked at Alabama and Texas A&M and played at Oklahoma. He has said on multiple occasions that Clemson is his favorite school right now, but that could change with visits. Let me say that IMO this ends up Clemson, UGA, and Bama.

#2 Peter Woods DT /DE Alabama: He will be at Clemson on June 2nd before he heads to UGA the next day and Bama later in the month. Also wants to see LSU, Clemson already in the top group there.

#8 Caleb Downs S Ga: He will be at Clemson June 4th, then UGA, FSU,ND, OSU, and Alabama. His brother plays at UNC, so you have to watch them. Clemson has a great chance here. I think this winds up a Clemson, UNC, UGA, and maybe Bama.

#11 Anthony Hill JR Texas: Working on scheduling a Clemson visit along with OSU, with visits to Texas, Texas A&M, and Bama already lined up.

#13 Sonny Styles Ohio: Being in-state OSU will push like heck, his dad also played for them. His brother is at ND so they also have an in. No visit yet.

#14 Tony Mitchell CB Alabama: Mitchell will be at Clemson on June 4th. Remember I told y'all that Clemson is involved heavily here and Mitchell told Letterman Row "But Clemson is my dream school, so I’d say them if I had to pick a favorite team or someone that I rooted for. I just always liked them since they had Deshaun Watson, Mike Williams, Deandre Hopkins and Sammy Watkins. They’ve been showing me major love since my freshman year. It’s just different up there.” Best example I could give of his interest in Clemson. While he lives in Alabama, he is not from there as he was born in FL, he will also be at Georgia, LSU, USC, Ohio State, and Alabama in June.

#15 Matayo Uiagalelei DE Cali: As I hope you can tell he is DJ's brother and he is another baller. Has a visit to Clemson this weekend with his cousin. I have cautioned y'all that USC is a serious threat as he wants to be a music producer and LA would obviously be better for that than here. However, recently I have liked Clemson's chances a little better, but UGA and OSU are also high on his list.

#16 Malik Bryant DE FL: He will visit Clemson today, so read about him later in the post.

#23 Rahmir Stewart S Pa: No visit to Clemson yet. Alabama, Penn State, LSU, and A&M.

#26 David Hicks Jr DL Texas: No visit yet either; Texas and Texas A&M are slotted for visits.

#30 Vic Burley DL Ga: He will camp June 11th. UGA involved heavily here.

#54 Drayk Bowen OLB Indiana: He says that he talks to ND and Clemson on a constant basis, but ND has to be considered the favorite being in-state. He will visit June 9th.

#73 Kelby Collins Alabama: He will be visiting June 5th.

#111 Raylen Wilson Fl: No visit yet, but USC, FSU, and UGA are all of interest.

#120 Josiah Trotter Pa. The brother of Jeremiah Trotter, recent class of 21 commit. No scheduled dates right now, but watch June 13th as a day he could make it to Clemson.

#122 Tackett Curtis La.: Will visit Clemson on June 11th. I actually like Clemson’s chances early. Watch LSU, A&M, and UGA

#169 Damon Wilson FL: No visits scheduled yet but he said that Clemson, Bama, and Florida are teams that are coming hard.

These are who will be visiting Today:

Class of 22”

Quincy Craig and Alijah Kelly will workout at WR, not going to spend much time on them.

DE Mario Eugenio. Will see what happens, but Iowa State and Michigan are positioned best IMO, no offer yet.

23” guys:

Let us start with the QB. I am very interested in how Georgia QB Dylan Lonegran performs. I have told y’all going into these visits Clemson and Bama were in the best position, based on what I have heard. Clemson is going to get their pick of the litter at QB, so we will have to see what happens here who they decide to push for.

-It sounds like Avieon Terrell moved his visit date to today, rather than yesterday, so I would assume that he is camping, remember that he had offer even before today. I have told y'all that Florida and FSU are involved here, along with UGA.

-As I stated above 5* DT Peter Woods will be on campus today. It seems to be a Clemson, UGA, and Bama battle shaping out early.

-OL Payton Kirkland will be back at Clemson as well. Remember that he was at Clemson for the Spring Game, and I expect that he would be one of the first OT offers along with Kadyn Proctor. OSU is very involved here as well.

-Top 100 player, and former FSU commit Cedrick Baxter will be camping. Miami and Florida pushing.

-As I told y’all last week Texas commit 5* RB Reuben Owens will be visiting. Let us just say that commitment is shaky to say the least. As a result Bama, OSU, and Clemson will all get their chance to sway his commitment to Texas. He is also good friends with Arch Manning, FYI.

-Top 100 DL John Walker will also be out camping. He has trips to Florida and OSU planned.

-2 DE that I brought to your attention last week will be on campus today as well.

-5* Malik Bryant out FL will camp at Clemson. He will also see OSU, UGA, Bama, and ND in June.

- High 4* Derrick LeBlanc also out of FL will visit today as well. LeBlanc also visited Clemson for the Spring game. OSU, Florida, and Bama as well.

-Top 5 safety Terrance Love will also be on campus. He will also visit Alabama in June.

-3 CB to know are Daiquan White, Dale Miller, and Oliver Bridges. All camping today.

-Finally I mentioned two weeks ago that receiver Winston Watkins from the class of 25 would be at Clemson on June 2nd. He is the cousin of Sammy. Let me just say that if he projects the way that I think he does then we will be talking about him this time in two years as one of the first to snag a Clemson offer.

-Before we end congratulations to Clemson QB commit Cade Klubnik who was chosen to compete in the Elite 11 camp.

-As always have a great week Tigernation!!
