Recruiting

Oct 18, 2021, 11:17 AM

I, (like most everyone on the board I'm sure), am very concerned by the unexpected drop in team performance this year. It really caught me totally by surprise.

That being said, I believe the key indicator on weather or not Dabo can right the ship quickly and this be an outlier type of year instead of a long downward spiral, is recruiting. Can we one, hold-on to the guys we have committed, and two, add some high-end talent late?

I'd love to hear others' opinions on how this class is stacking-up and who else can we legitimately sign that is not currently committed?

We have coaching concerns for sure. But, as we've seen in the past, elite talent cures a lot of ills. Who are the game-changers in the 2022 class and the future targets in 2023-24?

We have a good group committed which includes some very talented offensive linemen and QB. I hope we can hang on to them.

24/7 shows us leading for no one that is a 2022 elite recruit. There are still quite a few that have not committed.

We have a small but very talented class. We definitely need to add to it. Dabo and co have always landed a few hidden gems late in the process! I also hope we add a couple imoact transfers in the off-season.

we are fine for 2022 and should be able to hold onto all. Problem, IMHO, is we aren't offering enough kids and at times are too late to offer on some. Our OL room is too small...and has been for a long time. Its really shows up with the injury bug we have had this year.

Again, slight adjustments to current philosophies (which I mostly agree with)....just needs to be updated to match the changing situation.

Dabo can't continue to replace experienced recruited talent transfers with:

1. Freshman in the next Class
2. Walk-ons

He also needs to offer more kids early.

Dabo needs to adapt to the ever changing CFB landscape

^^^Agreed.

Again, I like that we don't offer many, but we need to offer a bit more and sign larger classes if you aren't going to replace the guys that leave through the portal with other portal players.

With an early signing period and very little restrictions on transferring. If you don't offer/sign more or use the transfer portal. You find yourself having to start recruiting a diluted pool of players in January.
