Don't let facts get in the way of your opinion.

Coach Wins Losses Winning %
Frank Howard 165 118 .580
Hottie Ingram 12 21 .364
Red Parker 17 25 .409
Charley Pell* 18 4 .804
Danny Ford** 96 29 .760
Ken Hatfield 32 13 .707
Tommy West 31 28 .505
Tommy Bowden 72 45 .573
Dabo Swinney** 87 28 .789 Before this years games

* Left the program and Clemson as put on probation due to incidents that took place while he was Head Coach.

** National Championship won by Head Coach.

For everyone who is flipping out due to one on a Friday night on the road don't allow fact to get in the way of your hysteria.

Dabo Swinney
Best winning % of a coach who has coached more than two seasons.
One of two coaches in Clemson history to win a National Championship in football.
Only Coach in Clemson history to play for National Championship twice.
Six 10 win season in a row with seven on the table.
A man of character and integrity who wins without cheating
A man who graduates his players and teaches them how to be men.
A man who showed tremendous humility by going to the locker room of Syracuse to congratulate them on a win that is a program changer for them. (Had to be difficult)
A man who is respected by the college football world and gets a standing ovation from its fans while his own fans disrespect him in his town but does not attack in response.

What more could you ask for in a coach

Nobody has any comments about the facts of our college football program?

I find Dabo's resume terrific and all you point out is correct. Having said that Dabo himself is the one who said our goal is excellence and being the BEST. Dabo does have some faults (as we all do) and his stubbornness just might be the biggest. Having said that perhaps he will personally examine our offense which is but a shell of itself compared to prior years. And yes I'm well aware of DW and the great things we accomplished with him but he's moved on. Our play calling is predictive, teams have learned to defense many of our " favorite" plays yet we continue to run them to no avail, we have a supply of top flight receivers and yet seems no one to get the ball to them, and on and on.
and inthe midst of all of this we're still 6-1 having lost to a program that is light years behind ours.
No doom and gloom here but at the same time it is important to discuss issues prior to there being a major problem or degradation of our program which could occur even though most on here believe it could not.

I am sure you will be given the chance to discuss that at your next coaches meeting. Oh, wait...

FYI Your first point about highest win percentage for a Clemson coach with at least two seasons is not correct. That distinction belongs to John Heisman.

But I do agree with the point you're making. The sky is not falling. Nobody wins every single game. Not even Saban. In fact, nobody has even managed to make it all the way through the college football playoff unscathed yet. It's hard to consistently be perfect in anything much less football.

You are spot on about former Coach Pell. I remember him standing in front of that brick wall in Raleigh after we beat NCS saying he had no plans on leaving. Boom of to Florida he goes. We better be glad he left when he did or we could still be on probation. Look at the mess he left Florida in too. Dabo is cut from different cloth!

I don't want to take anything away from Dabo, but there is no telling how many national titles we would have if they hadn't run Ford off because he was putting pressure on the AD and president to upgrade the football facilities not for cheating. The NCAA never charged him with doing anything
wrong. His mistake was going over his superiors heads to the rank and file Iptay members.

About all of the violations were the nit picking variety. None of them gave his program an unfair advantage. The real problem was the N.C. Schools was tired of him taking all of the blue chip players
out of N.C. Especially UNC . They had a lot of clout with the NCAA back then as they apparently still do today.
