Good enough to shut down DJ.

DJ missed 3 of 4 passes. UNC didn't do anything.***

Sounds like they didn't need to. Missing 3 out of 4 passes lost the coot game

No doubt. Cade can move, throw while moving, throw accurately, and even hand off or fake a hand off without issues. And I do believe he processes a bit quicker.

Agree that Cade processes much faster than DJ. I believe that was DJ's biggest problem --- the gray matter between the ears. He might be a great guy with a wonderful heart and strong arm, but he seemed way too lost at times trying to figure out what to do next. Replays showed better receiver targets on MANY plays.

Yep. DJ also telegraphed stuff. It just seemed so obvious what he was thinking of doing just by his body language. Every movement was pronounced and way too slow. I noticed that Cade's lateral tosses were much more decisive, not giving the opposing dbacks much time to react. Reminded me a little of what Trevor or Deshaun looked like.

Cade was on time and accurate. Cade made correct zone reads. Cade moves his feet and it appears to be second nature to him.
After 2 years of starting, DJ did none of those things consistently.

Stats say Cade was 20-24. When I rewatched the game, I was surprised to discover that every single pass was catchable. 2 definitely hit the receivers in the hands. 1 was in the front right corner of the endzone, the DB was in good position and his play on the ball probably disrupted (Ngata’s?) line of sight…..but it was catchable. There was also the PI between the 10-15 yd line. That was the only off target throw, but it still could have been caught if the DB hadn’t tackled our receiver. I don’t think that counts as an attempt because of the PI.
The plays have been there all year, on time and accurate matters.

OK, the jury is still out on passing. Don't expect another TL. If we have to have a TL every year, we need to overhaul the offense. What I thought I saw with Cade was an offense where everything seemed to work better. I think its because everything was a few tenths of a second quicker. And I got the feeling sometimes in other games that playcalling would inexplicably change as though somebody wanted to showcase DJ's alleged passing improvement. With Cade they just seem to call whatever might work. And a lot more things work because of his speed. Options especially work better.

But I hope we don't expect too much out of this guy.

why ask the question, go find the answer yourself... or are you putting down a D that beat VaTech, Virginia, Miami, Duke, Pitt, Virginia, Wake before falling off the rails and losing 3 down the stretch as not very good... until the Ga Tech fiasco they had 1 loss and Maye was being talkied about in Heisman circles... their run defense was the question mark, we ran the ball 14 times with our backs.

So yes, NC had a good defense, not elite.

And Yes, Cade is that good and will get better. He gets everyone around him to play up, on both sides of the ball. He did some subtle things in the pocket that DJ never did (like actually move away from pressure). I think he took one sack where he should have thrown it away.

Passer rating of 194. 20-24 with the 4 being drops not missed throws (we need to clean that up).

Streeter could open up the playbook and do some things DJ just does not have in his toolkit.

The real test will be in the Orange Bowl, he will get all the 1st team reps in the prep.

Looking forward to Dec 30.

Why ask the question? Because I was curious and wanted a gauge for setting expectations for Orange Bowl.

Look it up myself? Well, I'm pretty busy and fir some here, a question about stats that another can answer lights up their lives.

Hard to know what we saw from one championship game... how was their D overall? How was secondary? what role, if any, did injury play... one thing is certain, Cade demonstrated with no room to challenge that he is the fuy for the job.

NC had a good defense? Which sport are you referring to? They gave up over 31 a game, 105th in the nation. They gave up the following points:

Florida A&M(FCS team)........24
Appalachian State(GOF team)..61
Georgia State(FCS team)......28
Notre Dame...................45
Duke.........................35
Virginia(Bad offense)........28
Wake Forest..................34
NC State(Fourth String QB)...30
Clemson(New QB)..............39

This is not a good defensive football team.

Tenn Defense is pretty porous as well.

By next year, he will be an even better QB.
