Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

All are intriguing to me, on the surface...

Oct 13, 2015, 10:40 AM

except Schiano.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Why don't you want Schiano running your team?

Oct 13, 2015, 10:43 AM

Instills too much character?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I don't know much about him

Oct 13, 2015, 10:45 AM

except he was a disaster in the NFL. If he's a high-character guy, I am more intrigued.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

When was the last time your school had a high character guy?

Oct 13, 2015, 10:50 AM

Not sure it works with the recruiting strategy over there.

I don't know.***

Schiano has been out of coaching ....

Oct 13, 2015, 11:03 AM [ in reply to All are intriguing to me, on the surface... ]

since he was fired at the end of the 2013 season by Tampa Bay and that is the one element $CU fans would likely find unappealing.

However, it seems likely he will resurface in the college ranks in the near future. In eleven seasons as the head coach at Rutgers, Schiano guided the Scarlet Knights to a 68-67 record and six bowl appearances. In his last six years, his teams were 11-2, 8-5, 9-4, 4-8, and 9-4 respectively which is quite good by Rutgers standards.

Schiano inherited a program at the bottom of the Big East and transformed Rutgers into a consistent winner. He’s also familiar with recruiting on the East Coast

I hope they go for the coaching re-tread. I would love to see someone like Bielema (or someone like that) as the next HC at SCU.

Big name in the state for recruiting. Did great at a small college (Byrnes). No big name will take that dumpster fire. Not who they want but probably what they are going to get.

Re: I know he is older, 61, but Tommy Turbeville does have

Oct 13, 2015, 11:13 AM

SEC experience. I'm sure he would be interested in that job.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

So does Houston Nutt....

Oct 13, 2015, 11:20 AM

and both would love to get back to the $EC, but I also think both of them are a little older than the candidates on which $CU will focus.

O' Leary and Ellis Johnson

Oct 13, 2015, 11:26 AM [ in reply to Re: I know he is older, 61, but Tommy Turbeville does have ]

Both are available, both would bring ability and some relationships. I'll grant that neither are ideal, but they could do worse. BTW: The State recently had a piece on Johnson and O'Leary just stepped down from his office job.

Skip Holtz is another good coach and he is younger, 51.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

How much will they spend?
