In college. Buying 2 hotdogs for a dollar at the convenience store behind the old YMCA bldg ( with all the fixings), or getting guys on the hall to chip in so we could buy an ITZA pizza because we couldn’t affor dominos. Bumming a ride home for the weekend when you couldn’t afford a car. I thought living high in the hog was being able to go to McDonald’s on the weekend and get a $3 Big Mac meal.

Most of my friends were in the same boat as me, never had money. But we still had a good time.

there was a little grill across the street from the high rises that you could get a late night bacon/egg/cheese sammich for $1.80

When I was there 50 years ago, the tin can canteen had the "Super 60"
