What I think people are sick of....
Feb 10, 2014, 9:02 PM
|

You know, we are constantly exposed to people coming out, personal agendas, etc,etc..., but I think most people do not care if you are gay, white, black, Hispanic, Asian, Russian, Chinese, French, or whatever..., But we are all sick of all of you shoving your agenda in our faces.
Just be people and live your life!

Got people preaching and lecturing about how the gays are going to hell. That attitude runs rampant through the south, but the rest of the country obviously doesn't care (see the wave of legalization).
I'm surprised this is even a hot topic on here. A football player likes dudes, why are we preaching and lecturing?

Liberal intolerance knows no bounds does it?
The rest of the Country (Northeast and West Coast) is full of bunches of Liberal fruit loops. The rest of the country is going broke, should we follow the leader here in SC???
You don't hear us telling the rest of the country how to live, do ya? Nope. All you hear is them telling the rest of us how to live, what to believe, and how to speak.
The problem is that liberals are intolerant and the rest of us have gotten sick and tired of it.

Seriously using terms like "liberal fruit loops" doesnt really help your case.
### does gay marriage have to do with economics? If anything it would help the economy. Do you realize how fabulous those weddings would be?
No one is telling you how to live? If anything its the other way around.
You should not call others intolerant after your fruit loops comment.
Also before you call me a liberal you will be way off base I am far from that. I just dont see how two guys getting married and getting the benefits I get from it hurts me. It has jack #### to do with me.

Claiming that the south is behind the curve is just plain hilarious. What part of "following the leader" like some blind lemming do you fail to comprehend? The rest of the country is going down in flames....you don't understand? I could go on, and on, and on....please move to another state.
Seriously, tell me you didn't go to Clemson.....my degree just decreased in value by 1000%.

I do have a degree from Clemson. I can tell you are full of #### and not a Clemson grad because a Clemson grad would actually answer the ####### questions that were asked.
How does gay marriage hurt the economy?
How does them getting the same rights as you hurt your personally?
Answer those questions or #### because you are coming off as nothing but a pathetic bigot using hate terms like fruit loops.

Pretty much the entire set of economic and federal benefits set aside for individuals who loved each other and vow to stay together for life...those don't really exist due to antiquated laws and misguided opinions.
That's all about to change though. Yall get ready. The queers are coming to knock down our doors!!!

The problem is, once again, why should I care about someone who I don't agree with. If you want to be something different than me, so be it. Be different, but shut the he!! up and stop shoving it in my face.
The problem is, when you decide to be whatever way you want to be, you usually decide that the way I am is no longer politically correct and I should change how I am.
If I say something you don't like, I lose my job. If I do the wrong thing, someone comes in to see if I am capable of parenting my child. If I think the wrong thing, well, they wrote a book about that....the pendulum swings and now I am supposed to agree with the liberal bull$hit. This life is about the choices you make.
And if a queer wants to come knock down my door, well, as David Allen Coe says... I got a shotgun waiting on the other side

I'm sure you are talking about the U.S. where there is plenty discrimination, including denial of right to marry, federal benefits, adoption, income taxes, health insurance, can be fired in many states, etc. (there is a long list).
But in some parts of the world, gay people are subject to the death penalty or imprisonment.

just like a liberal to get indignant when somebody else points out their hypocrisy. You must a homophobe projecting your issues. No thanks, that's your bag not mine.
Better keep telling yourselves that it's everybody else that's intolerant.. Now that is funny.
The vast majority of discrimination in this country comes from the left, and by the left.
Oh no, better brace yourselves for middle America. It's gonna be a rough ride alright, especially for people like you.

Being gay isn't any more of an agenda than being straight is
Feb 10, 2014, 10:53 PM
|
|
an agenda. Gay people come out of the closet because they are tired of being in the closet. They are in the closet in the first place because it is very difficult to be out, especially for younger gay people, because they are often bullied and ostracized because of what they are. Many people view their sexual orientation as immoral, as something that needs to be fixed; but it's something that can't be and doesn't need to be fixed. As a heterosexual man, I don't have to announce I'm straight; but more importantly, I've never felt that I needed to hide it. People just know or assume that I'm straight, and there's no problem; there's nothing to explain. I'm sure it's much different for a gay man. If there is an agenda for someone like Sam it's not shoving anything in anybody's face so much as it is not hiding anymore; there is a difference. He is publicly coming out not because he wants to make a big deal out of it, but because it is already such a big deal to so many people who don't approve or may be caught off guard by it.

One of the things about this country is that you can be who you are, whether I agree with it or not. The problem is, if I do not agree, then all of a sudden, I am now wrong. This is America. we have the right to believe whatever we wish to. To tell me that I have to now conform to whatever prevailing wind is blowing(no pun intended)is ludicrous and exactly the hypocrisy that whoever(gay, black, martian) has been fighting against.
Be whatever, quit shoving it in my face and let me live. It is difficult enough to try and maneuver this stupid labyrinth.

You're only wrong when you advocate suppressing people's rights based on your own personal beliefs.
It's okay to be uncomfortable with gay people. Here's the kicker - if you oppose gay marriage, you oppose two consenting adults' right to the federal benefits that "marriages" and "civil unions" entail. While it may be mildly inconvenient for you to have to see two men holding hands, think about how inconvenient is is come tax time or when dealing with medical institutions...for 30, 40 years in a row.
It's not about you. That's the whole point.

Your statement about gays being allowed to adopt is not true in all states.
STATES EXPLICITLY PROHIBITING HOMOSEXUAL ADOPTION
Three states - Florida, Mississippi, and Utah - have laws that explicitly prohibit homosexual individuals and/or couples from adopting children. Michigan has, by construction of its statutes, prohibited same-sex couples from adopting, but does not prohibit single homosexual individuals from adopting. Other states may not have explicit prohibitions against same-sex adoption, but may have statutory requirements that only married couples may adopt, and thus, by extension, same-sex couples (because they are not married) are prohibiting from adopting. The following states have explicit prohibitions against same-sex adoption...
